  • Birmingham are looking to extend a seven-match unbeaten run

  • West Brom have failed to score in three of their last four Championship games

  • Recommended bet: Birmingham to win to nil

Birmingham have taken 14 points from their last six Championship matches and Blues are now firmly in the play-off picture and could still push for automatic promotion to the Premier League.

Tuesday's visitors, West Brom, sit only a point above the relegation zone, having taken just two draws from their previous seven second-tier games.

Eric Ramsay has the job of steering the Baggies to safety and can take some encouragement from Saturday's spirited 0-0 draw with Stoke.

Team news

Alex Cochrane, Demarai Gray, Ethan Laird, Jack Robinson and Lee Buchanan are all set to miss out for the hosts.

Gray is close to a return, but Tuesday's clash may come too soon for the former Leicester forward.

Phil Neumann is a major doubt after picking up an injury in Saturday's 2-1 win over Leicester.

George Campbell, former Birmingham man Krystian Bielik and Tammer Bany Odeh will not make the short trip to St Andrew's, while Karlan Grant is unlikely to play again this season.

Chris Mepham was substituted following a hamstring injury against Stoke at the weekend and is unlikely to return in midweek.

The stats

  • Birmingham are unbeaten in their last seven matches

  • Blues have taken 14 points from their last six Championship games

  • Birmingham have lost only one of their 15 home league matches

  • West Brom have failed to score in three of their last four second-tier games

Prediction

In-form Birmingham have pushed themselves into the play-off picture and Blues should extend their excellent run against struggling West Brom.

Chris Davies' men kickstarted the second half of the campaign with an excellent 3-2 victory over Coventry at St Andrew's and Blues have won four of their last six Championship games.

It is only one home league defeat all season for the Second City side and their home form is helping to keep Birmingham in the promotion picture.

Saturday's 2-1 victory over Leicester turned into a stroll following Bobby De Cordova-Reid's first-half red card, and Birmingham recorded 73% possession in that match.

Last weekend's cruise and playing two home games on the bounce will help Blues handle the quick turnaround and they welcome a West Brom side who have lost 11 of their last 12 Championship away games.

Relegation is becoming a real fear for the Baggies, who have failed to score in three of their last four games and not won any of their last seven Championship contests.

Ryan Mason was shown the door last month, but Ramsay has yet to record a victory after five matches in charge of Albion.

The Baggies can take some heart from their 0-0 draw with Stoke at the weekend, but they now face an in-form Birmingham outfit, who are extremely tough to beat at home.
