Bove announces new documentary on cardiac arrest and rebirth at Watford

Italian midfielder Edoardo Bove is releasing a documentary on his collapse playing for Fiorentina and return to football at Watford following heart surgery.

It is called ‘In Un Battito’ (In A Heartbeat) and will be released in Italian cinemas soon, directed by Giovanni Troilo.

Bove collapsed in December 2024

The terrifying incident occurred when he was on loan at Fiorentina from Roma, early into the Serie A match against Inter at the Stadio Artemio Franchi on December 1, 2024.

His heart stopped and he was revived on the pitch before being rushed to hospital, where doctors gave him an implanted cardiac defibrillator.

Similar to the one that Christian Eriksen received, Italian law does not allow athletes with these implants to participate in professional sport, so both players had to leave Serie A.

“Who am I without football?” is the question at the heart of the documentary, as the 22-year-old had to face up to potentially losing his career, after so nearly losing his life.

Now 24, Bove is playing in England for Watford, making seven appearances already so far this season.
