Thomas Tuchel has heaped praise on Chelsea target Alex Scott following his performance during England’s eye-catching 7-0 win over Croatia on Saturday evening.

The Bournemouth midfielder was named in the starting XI for the first time in his senior international career, having made his England debut off the bench versus Czechia in midweek, and he played an instrumental role in the Three Lions’ biggest ever Nations League victory.

Scott, who was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea over the summer and remains their top midfield target, started alongside close friend Elliot Anderson in Rijeka and England boss Tuchel was keen to heap praise on the 23-year-old during his post-match press conference.

“First start and what a start. What a performance,” Tuchel told reporters when asked about Scott.

“He’s just so smooth at the moment on the ball, decision-making is on the highest level, he plays with so much confidence. He’s so active, so confident and the work-rate off the ball, he’s the complete package at the moment.

“He gave us today a lot of mobility, a lot of variety and a lot of work-rate in the centre of the pitch, together with Elliot.”

Scott has been one of the best midfielders in the Premier League so far this season and it’s clear that Tuchel believes he is more than good enough to become a key player for Chelsea if they are able to finalise a transfer agreement next year.

How much will Alex Scott cost?

It’s understood that Bournemouth have no interest in selling Scott during the upcoming January window, but they will undoubtedly receive substantial transfer interest and a deal is therefore highly likely to be finalised before the end of 2027.

The England star has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €55.8 million, however Bournemouth are expected to demand a club-record fee and an offer of at least €100m will likely be required to tempt Marco Rose’s side into a deal.

In addition to Chelsea, the 23-year-old is also on Liverpool’s radar amid their pursuit of a long-term replacement for Alexis Mac Allister, while Arsenal have been linked with a potential deal in recent weeks too.
