That the Brazilian star vanished under mysterious circumstances and was replaced by a lookalike to fulfil advertising contracts, all amid total silence from the player, those close to him, and his club.
Thigh tattoo lights the spark
The first spark of this absurd story flared in September 2026 on Brazilian forums and TikTok accounts, after some users spotted physical differences in the player.
Believers point to Vinicius, who turned up at the Brazil national team's camp during the Australia match, and insist he no longer carries the same thigh tattoo as Vinicius the Real Madrid player. The cosmetic changes on his face, they argue, prove he is not the same man.
From the CIA to the creeping invasion
The theory did not stop at resemblances and tattoos. It spiralled into wilder scenarios. A well-known "X" account named @BlackBondPtv floated a theory that the American Central Intelligence Agency, the Rothschild family and the ruling elites killed Vinicius and replaced him after the World Cup.
Others went further still, tying the player's physical transformation to what they called an alleged "creeping alien invasion" during the World Cup to abduct Vinicius and Neymar, according to Spain's "Marca".
One video, featuring a woman named Fu Baiana, spread around the world. In it she says: "I have to tell you that I dreamed again of aliens invading the football stadium in Miami, and I saw clearly how they abducted the players aboard the first ship that arrived. I was inside that ship, and when I boarded, the mothership arrived and abducted thousands of people from the stadium. I saw screaming, crying, and countless suffering."
Complete disregard from Madrid
The stories may be meaningless, but they keep spreading. Those close to the player and Real Madrid themselves ignore the "fake news" entirely, dismissing it as digital nonsense not worth a response, even as the theories rack up millions of views online.
