The January transfer window is months away and last summer’s has only just ended, but the situation surrounding Chelsea’s central midfield means that rumours aren’t going anywhere.

The Blues were left very publicly short handed when Enzo Fernandez left for Man City on deadline day, and it’s a matter of “when” and not “if” they sign a new player in that part of the pitch.
