Real Madrid made up to six new additions to their squad in the last summer transfer window, and particularly focused on strengthening their backline. They brought in three new defenders, one center-back, Ibrahima Konate, and two fullbacks, Denzel Dumfries and Marc Cucurella.

While Konate has already established himself as a clear starter for Jose Mourinho after his impressive start to life at the Merengue club, the new fullbacks have had more mixed fortunes. The Portuguese coach has alternated between Dumfries and Trent-Alexander Arnold on the right flank. On the left, Marc Cucurella has been the starter lately, but has not really performed up to the expectations that he had generated.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid seem to be keeping some other fullbacks in their sights as well. This appears to be the case from a report from Mundo Deportivo, which cites the German outlet Bild to claim that the Merengues are keeping an eye on the Bayer Leverkusen fullback Jarrell Quansah.

The 23-year-old defender was the one who took Trent’s place in the English squad for the World Cup, and continues to impress with the Bundesliga side. In fact, some of the biggest clubs in Europe, including Chelsea and Arsenal, are also interested in him, and the Gunners saw a €65 million offer for him rejected by the Germans last summer. Furthermore, Liverpool, the club from which Leverkusen bought the defender for €35 million in 2025, have the right to buy him back till 2027, for €70 million.

After having added Denzel Dumfries to their squad only a few months ago, it seems unlikely that Real Madrid would be looking to add another fullback to their squad so soon. But there is no doubt that Jarrell Quansah would be a good addition to any team, especially to the Merengue side, where he has one of his close friends already present in the locker-room, namely Jude Bellingham.
