Rob Edwards has impressed in charge of Middlesbrough so far
  • Middlesbrough are setting the pace with four wins from four

  • Sheffield United boss Ruben Selles is under major pressure

  • Coventry are the Championship's leading goalscorers so far

Four sides remain unbeaten, with one club still boasting a 100 per-cent record heading into Week 5 of the Championship season.

Middlesbrough maintained their perfect record with a 1-0 win over Sheffield United last time out — a result which left the Blades rock bottom of the table.

Ruben Selles is under enormous pressure to stop the rot at Portman Road on Friday when they get the Championship action underway against a winless Ipswich side.

United’s city rivals Sheffield Wednesday need to kickstart their campaign too as they host high-flying Bristol City while second-placed West Brom will want to get back to winning ways against struggling Derby.

Elsewhere, Southampton and Portsmouth renew their South Coast rivalry on Sunday, while Charlton and Millwall meet in a fiery lunchtime derby at The Valley.

We’ve got score predictions for all 12 fixtures.

Ipswich vs Sheffield United (Friday, 8pm)

Selles’ position in the dugout could be short lived if Sheffield United don’t start winning games but Friday’s trip to Portman Road looks incredibly tough.

Kieran McKenna has had a fortnight to iron out the issues that have stopped his expensively-assembled squad from winning matches they have dominated and, if the new players gel together, Town’s promotion charge could start here.

Score prediction: Ipswich 2-0 Sheffield United

Charlton vs Millwall (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Back-to-back defeats against Leicester and QPR have been a lesson to Charlton about the harsh realities of the division and they could be due another against a Millwall side that have been much more efficient away from home than at The Den.

Score prediction: Charlton 1-2 Millwall

Oxford United vs Leicester City (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Oxford parted company with club captain Elliott Moore late on transfer deadline day and it remains to be seen if they can fill the leadership void. The U’s also need to find a reliable goalscorer or they may not be able to trouble a Leicester side hunting a third consecutive clean sheet.

Score prediction: Oxford United 0-2 Leicester City

Preston vs Middlesbrough (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Boro are in the bottom six for expected goals but sit top of the pile so the underlying statistics point to Preston having a decent chance of halting the early pacesetters.

North End stunned Leicester with their counter-attacking style at Deepdale last month and can stop the Teessiders in their tracks too.

Score prediction: Preston 1-0 Middlesbrough

Coventry vs Norwich (Saturday, 3pm)

Coventry have gone cuckoo for goals after scoring 14 in their first four Championship matches but they have outperformed their expected goals by a factor of two and could be set for a comedown against a Canaries side that have already won at Portsmouth and Blackburn.

Score prediction: Coventry 2-2 Norwich

Sheffield Wednesday vs Bristol City (Saturday, 3pm)

The Owls are still finding their feet, and Bristol City’s compact midfield could frustrate them again.

Score prediction: Sheffield Wednesday 0-2 Bristol City

Stoke City vs Birmingham City (Saturday, 3pm)

Stoke have started brightly but face a stiff test against Chris Davies’ Birmingham side, who are not short on confidence.

Demarai Gray has shaken off a shoulder problem and could be the Blues’ dangerman going up against Stoke right-back Junior Tchamadeu, who is better going forward than in defence.

Score prediction: Stoke City 1-1 Birmingham City

Swansea vs Hull City (Saturday, 3pm)

Transfer restrictions mean Hull boss Sergej Jakirovic is working with one arm tied behind his back. He needs to plug a leaky defence that has conceded seven goals in the last two games ahead of a long road trip to Swansea.

Swansea’s home form remains strong, and the travelling Tigers haven’t won away since April.

Score prediction: Swansea 2-0 Hull City

Watford vs Blackburn Rovers (Saturday, 3pm)

Watford are still a work in progress, but may have too much physicality for a Blackburn side that sold their best defender on deadline day.

Score prediction: Watford 2-1 Blackburn Rovers

West Brom vs Derby County (Saturday, 3pm)

The Baggies bounced back from dropping a couple of points at home to Portsmouth by winning a feisty battle at Stoke last time out. The spine of Ryan Mason’s team looks great and they should have too much power for an out-of-sorts Derby side.

Score prediction: West Brom 2-0 Derby County

Wrexham vs QPR (Saturday, 3pm)

Wrexham are learning fast, and QPR’s defensive lapses could gift them a first home win of the season.

Score prediction: Wrexham 2-1 QPR

Southampton vs Portsmouth (Sunday, 12pm)

Southampton have looked sharp under Will Still and should have too much for a Pompey side missing key players. Saints have created 14 big chances in their opening four games, missing eight of them, but they seem capable of carving most teams open at will.

Score prediction: Southampton 3-1 Portsmouth
