“Still incredibly painful” – Pellegatti questions feeling of ‘remorse’ about Champions League

AC Milan will kick-start their Europa League campaign next week and one journalist has admitted the pain of not seeing the club play this week.

Given how long Milan spent in the Champions League places last season, it’s only right that they feel hard done by with how the season ended. However, no one else is to blame but themselves. Once the unbeaten run stopped, they broke.

Of course, there were injury issues and other problems surrounding the squad; that much cannot be denied. However, the Rossoneri could’ve taken control of the situation on several occasions and they didn’t.

In the end, no one was to blame but themselves.

Pellegatti voices regret for Milan

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Carlo Pellegatti looked at the situation in which the Diavolo find themselves in and addressed his feelings on the matter, as MilanNews have relayed.

“I watched Como easily, authoritatively, and spectacularly beat their opponent, and I reflected. I asked you and I asked myself: will they have any regrets?

“I haven’t spoken about it in recent days, but I’ll close the discussion now that the three days of the Champions League are over. Will those responsible for the fact that we have to wait a week to see the Europa League have any regrets?

“Let me clear up any misunderstanding right away: this is my opinion expressed on my YouTube channel, you may not agree, but I remain of this opinion. And the culprits are not Tare and Allegri, let’s make that clear right away.

“Those responsible for AC Milan’s absence from the Champions League will have been watching Como’s well-played and well-deserved victory in front of the television. But won’t they feel a shred of remorse for ruining the work of Tare and Allegri?

“Will they feel a bit of regret, or did they just watch the game, just for the sake of it, because they had nothing else to do, watching a Champions League where AC Milan wasn’t in the competition on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday?

“I hope so, because missing out on seeing Milan in the Champions League for the second year in a row, after being in the top spots from matchdays two to thirty-seven, hurts.

“For me, the end of last season is still incredibly painful. On April 9th, when we lost to Napoli, we lost the second place we had occupied almost continuously since August 30th. After the defeat to Cremonese, we had repositioned ourselves there and remained second until April 9th.

“Then, on April 9th, the catastrophe struck with that speech at Casa Milan in which the players who would not be part of the squad the following year were named. But will those responsible have any remorse, or am I the only one who is saddened?!”

If Milan start the competition well next week, those feelings of regret may lessen. However, they’ll be present for a while…
