Fenerbahce beat Sturm Graz 2-0 in the first leg of this Champions League third qualifying round tie and look to defend their lead at the Liebenauer Stadium on Tuesday.

Fener have not played in the group stage or league phase of this competition since 2008-09, while Sturm Graz played in the main draw in 2024-25, but won only two of their eight games.

However, both victories came at home and Die Schwoazn have won six of their last nine home European matches.

They will be confident of overturning their deficit, but will have to deal with Talisca, who has opened the scoring in all three of the Yellow Canaries' continental games this season.

Team News

Amady Camara and Otar Kiteishvili are both doubts for the hosts, while Simon Seidl and Nelson Weiper will hope to force their way into the team after the latter scored both goals in Saturday's win at Hartberg from the former's assists.

Fenerbahce will be without defender Jayden Oosterwolde, who suffered a hamstring injury in the first leg.

Archie Brown is expected to take his place at left-back.

The Stats

Sturm Graz beat Hearts 4-0 at home in the previous round and have won six of their previous nine at home in European competition.

They won 2-0 at Hartberg on Saturday, while Fenerbahce had the weekend off and have had a week to prepare for this game, having had the same for both legs of their 3-1 aggregate win over Gornik Zabrze.

Fener won 2-1 in Graz when the pair met in the 2017-2018 Europa League.

Brazilian forward Talisca opened the scoring in last week's first leg, the third Champions League game in a row in which he has broken the deadlock.

Home captain Jon Gorenc Stankovic has had two yellow cards, a goal and an assist in his team's three Champions League games.

Prediction

The tie is tantalisingly balanced, with Graz's excellent home record likely to give them the belief they can overturn their 2-0 deficit in this battle to face either Lyon or Sparta Prague in the play-off round. Fenerbahce may feel the pressure following so much previous qualifying heartache but head coach Ismail Kartal looks to have a reliable source of goals. Talisca has always been a good player, but has failed to make the move to one of Europe's top leagues either by choice or misfortune, previously playing in China and Saudi Arabia. Formerly on loan at Besiktas, the Brazilian began his second spell in Turkey in 2025 and scored 27 goals in all competitions last term. Having often been used wide, the 32-year-old has played as a central striker over the last year and his goal return has been impressive. He has opened the scoring in all three of Fenerbahce's matches this season, but with this having the potential to be a cagey contest, backing him as an anytime goalscorer provides extra room to manoeuvre.
