Valdas Dambrauskas should be confident that Sabah can make home advantage count.

Sabah will have to come back from behind if they are to progress ito the League Phase of the Champions League as they prepare to host Hapoel Be'er Sheva on Tuesday.

Veljko Simic gave Sabah the lead last week, only for the Azerbaijan outfit to lose 2-1 to goals from Javon East and Igor Zlatanovic.

Hapoel now make the trip to the Bank Respublika Arena and Tuesday's tie promises to provide plenty of entertainment.

Team news

Sabah head coach Valdas Dambrauskas only has one injury to contend with, as winger Khayal Aliyev is sidelined with a tendon issue.

Hapoel Be'er Sheva boss Ran Kozuch will be unable to call upon the services of Dan Biton and Joao Victor due to injury.

The stats

Sabah have won six of their eight matches this season in all competitions.

While Sabah have already lost twice in this season's Champions League, they managed to find the back of the net in both games before losing 2-1.

The Owls have won four matches in a row at home, keeping a clean sheet in each of those ties, against Kapaz, Aarhus, KuPS and TNS.

Sabah have only lost two games at home since September 2025.

Hapoel Be'er Sheva have lost two of their last three competitive away games.

Including friendlies, Hapoel have won only one of their last five matches away from home.

Hapoel registered 18 shots in last week's first leg, and they finished the game with an xG of 2.01 and dominated the game with 67 per cent possession.

Prediction

The quest to get into the Champions League is something that neither of these sides will take for granted as both clubs will be considered minnows once the League Phase gets underway.

Sabah have been fortunate that the second leg will take place in Azerbaijan, as Hapoel's poor away record could come back to haunt them.

Both teams registered five shots on target in the first leg and another open, action-packed game should be expected here.

However, Hapoel's poor results away from home suggests they will fall short inside 90 minutes.

Sabah have been so strong at home in the last 12 months and they should be able to drag themselves over the line here.

The hosts have scored two or more goals in four of their last six matches and it is hard to ignore Hapoel's inability to pick up results on the road this summer.
