Manchester City vs Borussia Dortmund predictions: Citizens can best BVB in a thriller

Manchester City are unbeaten after three Champions League games (W2 D1)
Borussia Dortmund are also on seven points, one place ahead of the Citizens
Recommended bet: Manchester City to win and both teams to score
Only two teams picked up seven points from their opening three Champions League matches and that pair, Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund, do battle at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday.
Both are in great form but Dortmund know a tough task awaits them in Manchester, where City have won 19 and lost none of their last 22 group-stage/league-phase home matches in this competition.
Former BVB forward Erling Haaland is banging in the goals and that could be the difference in an exciting Etihad encounter.
Team news
Mateo Kovacic remains City’s sole absentee so Pep Guardiola has plenty of decisions to make.
Rayan Cherki shone in Sunday’s 3-1 win over Bournemouth but he, like plenty of other regulars, is often rested in Europe, with Savinho, John Stones and Tijjani Reijnders among those pushing for a recall.
Dortmund centre-backs Nico Schlotterbeck and Niklas Sule missed Friday’s win over Augsburg but are expected to return for the trip to Manchester, meaning Julien Duranville is the visitors’ only infirmary inhabitant.

Prediction
City started the season with a wobble, suffering back-to-back defeats to Tottenham and Brighton at the end of August, but they have bounced back in sensational fashion, winning nine and losing just one of their 12 games since.
The Citizens were excellent in Sunday’s 3-1 win over a very strong Bournemouth side and with Haaland’s tally for club and country this season now standing at 26 goals, they are hard to oppose.
That being said, Dortmund have done well to pick up seven points from three Champions League games and with their only loss this season coming against a Bayern Munich side who have won all of their matches in all competitions, they clearly have the talent to give City a game.
Guardiola’s side have gone three games without a clean sheet and while they should have enough to secure three points, shutting out a BVB side who have netted 12 goals in three Champions League matches could prove to be a difficult task.
