Bayern Munich signed two top players in Nathaniel Brown and Ismael Saibari, but Vincent Kompany would probably have liked a third blockbuster signing.

"We will not have any more arrivals. We are very happy with our current squad, with how we are set up," Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund had said on Monday shortly before the transfer window closed. As Sport Bild now report, Vincent Kompany wanted one more signing.

Alongside Nathaniel Brown, who arrived from Eintracht Frankfurt for around €50 million, and Ismael Saibari, for whom Bayern paid a similar fee to PSV Eindhoven, the German record champions' head coach wanted a third addition of a similar calibre.

Club bosses, however, vetoed the move and want to stick to their plan of giving young players from the second team and the academy a pathway into the senior squad. That is also why the club agreed to the permanent signing of 18-year-old Bara Sapoko Ndiaye, which is said to have come about chiefly at Kompany's insistence.

Two more talents pushing for senior appearances are midfielder Tim Binder (19), whose contract was extended until 2030 after an impressive pre-season, and flying winger Maycon Cardozo (17). The latter will initially be out for three to four months after shoulder surgery.
