Kraay astonished after the Netherlands v Germany: 'Ban that creep for ten matches!'

Hans Kraay junior is stunned by referee Alejandro Hernández Hernández's display during the Netherlands v Germany (1-1). The ESPN Netherlands pundit has even called for a ten-match suspension.

Hernández ruled out a Virgil van Dijk goal in the first half because of an alleged foul by Brian Brobbey on goalkeeper Marc ter Stegen. After the break, he disallowed a goal from Mexx Meerdink because of a foul by a Netherlands player shortly before.

''He is just a creep, that referee,'' fumes Kraay in his analysis of the Netherlands' Nations League match. ''That referee should be suspended for about ten matches.''

''Or he should be relegated to Division D of the Nations League. Or go and referee in the third division of the farmers' association. What a disgrace. What a disgraceful referee we had,'' Kraay says of the 43-year-old official from Spain.

Kraay cannot understand why Van Dijk's goal was ruled out. ''Nothing happens at all. Van Dijk rises a metre above the other defenders and Ter Stegen, who is an excellent line goalkeeper, came out here like an old woman. It has nothing to do with Brobbey.''

He is equally baffled by the decision to chalk off Meerdink's goal in the second half. ''He blew too early, you know. This referee was really terrible. Nothing happens. Four Germans are lying on top of each other. Then he has already blown again, that creep. He is just a creep, that referee.''

The Netherlands looked set to lose to Germany until stoppage time. Ruben van Bommel swung over a fine cross from the left, and Cody Gakpo finished at the far post to rescue a point for the Netherlands.
