Klopp surprises Bayern star with a fiery message: no one is guaranteed their place
Kimmich under pressure: Klopp opens the door to competition in Germany's midfield
Germany manager Jürgen Klopp has confirmed that Alexander Pavlovic and Jonas Urbig will start tomorrow, Sunday, against Greece in the fourth round of the UEFA Nations League.
Bulinews carried Klopp's comments from the press conference, where he joked: "I told Pavlovic just before the press conference that he could not talk his way out of the lineup."
On his goalkeeper, Klopp added: "At the moment, it seems we will not make a change in the goalkeeping position tomorrow, but who knows what we will do."
"The other goalkeepers who have been with us play regularly for their clubs, whereas Urbig does not play regularly for Bayern Munich, and for that reason he will get the chance to play this match," he continued.
Pressed further, he said: "That is how we planned it. But everyone has made a great impression. And there will not be any problems in this position."
Those words all but confirm Urbig keeps his place among the goalkeepers, despite speculation that Augsburg's Finn Dahmen could earn a first international cap.
Asked about the debate over Joshua Kimmich no longer being viewed as an indispensable figure for Germany, Klopp replied: "He put in a good performance against Serbia. But why must one player always have to play in the future?"
He added: "You also have to be in good form in order to play. You will not play for your club either if you are not at your best. We need different types of players."
Klopp concluded: "We need leaders and players capable of covering large areas of the pitch, and we need all types of players. And fortunately, we have more than three good players in midfield."
