He blocks all transfer enquiries: Borussia Dortmund reportedly receive the green light from their desired player
Borussia Dortmund could apparently wrap up their next major transfer in the coming days and thereby resolve one final squad issue.
As Sky report, Barcelona's Hector Fort, who Borussia Dortmund are trying to sign, has so far turned down every approach from other clubs and is determined to move to Dortmund.
Roma and Real Sociedad have both made concrete offers, but the right-back rejected them. Borussia Dortmund are now in concrete talks with the Catalans to finalise a deal.
Most recently, reports claimed Barca want €20 million for the 20-year-old Spaniard. That figure is thought to be too high for Borussia Dortmund. However, the clubs could still agree on a different model, transfer journalist Matteo Moretto recently reported.
According to that report, a deal worth €10 million is also possible, though it would be tied to a 50 per cent sell-on clause for the Blaugrana. A loan move with a subsequent option to buy has also not been ruled out.
Borussia Dortmund want to close final squad gap after Couto departure
After the eye-catching arrivals of Joey Veerman, Konstantinos Karetsas and Giannis Konstantelias, Borussia Dortmund are still urgently searching for a player on the right flank in Niko Kovac's back-three system with two wing-backs. With Yan Couto gone to Como after two disappointing years, Kovac currently has only Julien Ryerson as a natural fit for the role, and he also had only a short summer break because of his World Cup participation with Norway.
Fort remains a relatively unknown name at the top level in European football. After years at La Masia, he had managed only brief appearances for Barcelona's first team and spent last season on loan at Elche. Despite the significantly lower level of competition, he finished the campaign with only just over 600 minutes in 17 competitive matches.
Even so, Fort still produced three goals and two assists in those matches. He also spent more than four months out with a shoulder injury. Curiously, he suffered it while celebrating his goal for 1-0 against Rayo Vallecano shortly before Christmas.
