Despite the title: Kimmich launches strong criticism of Bayern Munich's performance
The German star dedicated the title to Musiala
Joshua Kimmich wasn't happy. The Bayern Munich captain took aim at his team's performance despite a 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund and the German Super Cup triumph on Saturday evening at the Signal Iduna Park.
Kimmich said, in press statements after the match: "Honestly, I didn't think the first half was that good. Of course, we were 2-0 up. We're happy that we won. But in terms of the way we played, we are still a long way off, and we have a lot, a lot of work ahead of us."

He continued: "We weren't active enough with the ball, and we couldn't always help each other sufficiently. We also allowed too many chances, especially from crosses. We need to improve significantly in this area."
The German international added: "We also failed to control the match and calm it down in the second half. We are satisfied with the result, but not necessarily with the way we played."
Asked whether the title belonged to Jamal Musiala too, Kimmich spoke of his teammate, sidelined by health troubles: "Yes, certainly. We hope Jamal returns soon, because he is an extremely important player for us, for the team and for Germany as a whole. We all know what he is capable of, and we hope he returns soon. We in the team all support him 100%."
Nathaniel Brown put the Bavarian giants ahead in the 28th minute, before Michael Olise doubled the lead in first-half stoppage time (45+1). Fabio Silva pulled one back for Dortmund in the 75th minute.
