Could Rayan Cherki be a serious target for Bayern Munich?
Bayern Munich are not keeping an eye on Manchester City attacker Rayan Cherki.
The French winger has established himself as one of the important players at Man City and has registered two goals and two assists already this season.
Bayern have a wealth of attacking options, and while they may look to reshuffle the pack next summer, any movement in that department is unlikely.
Could Bayern Munich move for Rayan Cherki?
We have already covered that Rayan Cherki was never an option for Bayern Munich during the summer window.
Bayern, as we all know, did want to sign Anthony Gordon, but he moved to Barcelona instead.
Ismael Saibari was always the preferred choice for Bayern, and the German giants moved quickly for him, signing him immediately after the World Cup.
In recent weeks, rumours have been circulating that Bayern could be an option for Cherki, but Christian Falk has made it clear that it is not happening.
The Bild journalist said that Max Eberl has told him Bayern have no plans to bring Cherki to Germany in January.
“It is NOT TRUE: Bayern Munich are keeping a close eye on Man City star Rayan Cherki. I asked Max Eberl about this and he made it clear that there’s no plan to bring Cherki in during the winter window. Bayern, anyway, doesn’t tend to do big deals like Cherki, who would be really expensive in January, if something disastrous hasn’t happened like a serious injury. I don’t think that will happen – I certainly hope it doesn’t!
Do Bayern need to sign wingers next summer?
Irrespective of what happens this season, the next summer window could be really interesting for Bayern.
While Bayern want Michael Olise to stay, as long as the French winger does not sign a new contract at the club, his future remains unclear.
Luis Diaz has struggled so far to replicate the success of last season, and this could be a problem for the club should his form not improve.
Likewise, Serge Gnabry may also need replacing. So, taking all factors into consideration, there could be room for new additions in attack.
Cherki would definitely be a fantastic signing for the club, but at the moment, there is little substance to the rumour.
