A positive and cautious update on Musiala

Serge Gnabry is back in team training with Bayern Munich under Vincent Kompany, ending a lengthy absence of around 19 weeks with an injury to the adductor muscle of his right thigh.

The winger picked up the injury during the final training session before Bayern's German league clash with Stuttgart on 18 April, then spent almost the entire rehabilitation period at the club's headquarters.

He missed the Bundesliga opener (2026-2027) against Stuttgart, a 5-1 win on Friday. On Monday, though, the Germany international came through a full training session, according to German newspaper Bild.

Gnabry looked in good spirits, working hard, throwing himself into one-on-one duels and sharp in his movement and shooting.

Even so, he is unlikely to feature in Bayern's next match, the German Cup tie against Osnabrück on Wednesday evening.

Musiala returns with caution

The newspaper continued: "The same applies to Jamal Musiala (23), whose medication dosage was increased after he suffered two collapses in two friendly matches due to absences caused by neurological disorders (brief disturbances of consciousness)."

Musiala's case is being handled cautiously despite this, with the coaching staff insisting "his return should not be rushed now".

It went on: "Musiala also took full part in the team's training on Monday afternoon. The Germany star appeared to be in good physical condition and on the right track to return. He fully engaged in duels and participated in the entire training session, which took place partly on the pitch behind a protective screen and partly on the adjacent pitch without a screen."

Bild confirmed: "This is good news for Kompany: thanks to the return of Gnabry and Musiala, the coach now has all his players in training. There is no longer any player who is injured or undergoing individual sessions."

Ibrahimovic and Boye to miss out

Arijon Ibrahimovic missed training as he closes in on a loan move to Augsburg, with an eight million euro purchase option attached.

Sacha Boey sat out the session too. The right-back has no clear future under Kompany, so sporting director Max Eberl wants him gone before the window shuts on 1 September.

Upamecano surprises Díaz, and Sébari's bandage

Bayern's training session took an ugly turn today when Dayot Upamecano fouled teammate Luis Diaz during a drill, sending the Colombian winger crashing hard to the ground. A short pause for treatment followed, and the players carried on with the session.

Bild concluded: "There was another notable thing in Monday's training: the Moroccan player Ismael Saibari trained with a bandage on his left wrist."
