Bayern Munich summer arrival opens up on preferred position
Bayern Munich fans will get a chance to get a glimpse of their new attacking signing on Saturday when they take on RB Leipzig in a pre-season friendly game. Ismael Saibari has recovered from a minor injury and is fit for this game.
The Moroccan forward completed a move to Bayern at the start of July. After missing out on Anthony Gordon, Bayern moved swiftly to sign Saibari from PSV Eindhoven for €55 million. He completed a move to Bayern during the World Cup by undergoing a medical in the USA.
Saibari’s World Cup was cut short as he suffered an injury in the round of 16. He couldn’t play for Morocco in the quarter-final defeat against France. The Moroccan forward scored three goals at the World Cup. He missed Bayern’s pre-season tour of Asia as he stayed back in Munich to recover from this injury.
Bayern presented Saibari to the German media on Friday for the first time. The Moroccan forward has excelled for PSV Eindhoven in the last couple of seasons. While talking to the media on Friday (via iMiaSanMia), Saibari revealed his preferred position in the final third.

Saibari will provide tactical flexibility to Bayern
Bayern had an incredible attack last season as Harry Kane, Michael Olise, and Luis Diaz wreaked havoc in the final third. The Bavarian club wanted to add more depth in the attack, so signing a versatile player like Saibari makes a lot of sense.
The Moroccan was prolific for PSV last season, scoring 18 goals across all competitions. He will give Vincent Kompany a lot of flexibility in the attack without seeing a drop in productivity.
Bayern are hoping to see Jamal Musiala get back to his best in the number ten role after a tough year with injuries. However, the presence of Saibari helps alleviate the pressure on Musiala. Moreover, Saibari can also lead the line whenever Kane needs a rest.
Along with his versatility, the World Cup showed that Saibari can also step up at the biggest stage. He ticks all the boxes when it comes to ticking all the boxes to provide Kompany tactical flexibility in the attack next season. Since it is the post-World Cup season, players will be fatigued due to a shorter break. Having tactical flexibility will be crucial for Bayern and Vincent Kompany to compete on all fronts.
