Bayern Munich delivered a promising performance against RB Leipzig on Saturday, continuing their good run of form in the pre-season. The Bavarian club clinched a 3-1 victory, courtesy of goals from Nathaniel Brown, Jamal Musiala, and Luis Diaz.

The wins are a bonus in pre-season as the focus is primarily on building fitness and avoiding injuries. Bayern have suffered a couple of scares against RB Leipzig. Konrad Laimer was withdrawn early in the first half due to a knock. Jamal Musiala also came off at the end of the game as he fainted due to dizziness.

According to Sport1, Musiala complained about dizziness and circulatory problems due to heat. The preliminary tests at Bayern have revealed that the German international should be back in full training in a couple of days.

Max Eberl also suggested on Saturday that Musiala should be fine and there are no big concerns around his fitness. The German attacking midfielder is likely to miss the final friendly game of the summer against FC Heidenheim on Wednesday. He should be back in the squad for the DFL Supercup clash against Borussia Dortmund at the end of the week.

Bayern need Musiala fit and firing this season

The record Bundesliga champions excelled in the attack last season as other players stepped up in the absence of Jamal Musiala. The likes of Michael Olise, Serge Gnabry, Harry Kane, Lennart Karl, and Luis Diaz ensured Musiala was able to ease back into the action.

The German attacking midfielder looked rusty during the second half of the season, while enduring a couple of injury setbacks. He picked up form at the end of the season, but had a disappointing World Cup with Germany. Musiala didn’t play much in the pre-season as he was recovering from an already scheduled surgery to remove the metal plate from his leg. The German international will hope this surgery ends up giving him more freedom in his foot movement on the pitch.

Bayern will hope the goal against RB Leipzig becomes the springboard for Musiala to have a successful season. The Bavarian club needs Musiala to be fit and firing as he is one of the best attacking midfielders in Europe. He gives Die Roten a lot of quality in the final third, which they sorely missed in some games last season.

Despite outside criticism over the summer, Bayern remain convinced that Musiala is a key player for them and he is part of their long-term plans with this squad.
