After much toing and froing, Said El Mala has extended his contract with 1. FC Cologne. His signature apparently also extracted some concessions from Effzeh.

The Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger reports that five per cent of any future transfer fee will go directly to the 19-year-old's parents. They are also due a further €500,000 each year as a signing bonus.

El Mala's new contract also apparently does not include a fixed release clause. For Effzeh, that means they can still negotiate any future transfer fee freely with interested clubs.

Last Thursday, the attacking player officially announced that he had prematurely extended his deal, which had originally been due to run until 2030, by a further year until 2031 in the cathedral city. That brought weeks of transfer speculation surrounding him to an end.

Above all, BVB pushed hard to sign El Mala during the current transfer window and even wanted to make him their record signing. Dortmund are said to have offered a little more than €50 million for the 19-year-old's services, but Cologne rejected the offer.

Then Leipzig, who wanted to sign El Mala as the successor to Yan Diomande, also hit a brick wall with Effzeh. RB even offered slightly more than BVB, but Cologne's veto remained in place.

How much money will Said El Mala earn in future?

By putting pen to paper, El Mala is also set to earn significantly more in future. According to the report by the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger, the attacking player's annual salary will double from the previous €1.2 million to more than €2.4 million.

His brother Malek, who had previously played for the second team, also appears to have benefited from the contract extension. His contract is also said to have been prematurely extended until 2031 as part of the agreement, meaning the El Malas are still only available as a package deal.
