The African title on the table: CAS sets date for the historic Morocco-Senegal session
The match ended in a 1-0 win for Senegal.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has fixed a hearing date in the dispute over the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final, pitting the Senegalese Football Federation against the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.
In an official statement released today, Wednesday, CAS confirmed the hearing will take place on 8 October at the court's headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The Senegalese Federation lodged its appeal on 25 March 2026, challenging a CAF decision that ruled Senegal had forfeited the 2025 final and awarded Morocco the win by a score of 3-0.
Senegal want CAF's ruling overturned and their national team declared champions of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Because the parties did not agree to fast-track proceedings, the case will follow the normal timetable laid out in the court's rules. Neither side requested a public hearing, so the session will be held behind closed doors.
Once the hearing wraps up, the arbitration panel will begin its deliberations. CAS has yet to set a date for the final decision, stressing the ruling will not come on the day of the session itself.
CAS also warned against false information circulating online about the case. The court insists that official details on the file come only through its own channels, and any developments will be published on its official website.
This could become the first Africa Cup of Nations title in the continent's history to be decided in the courts, following an extraordinary final marked by tension and controversy.
