Sudan's national team scored a late goal

Senegal drew 1-1 with hosts Mozambique on Friday in the opening round of Group 10 matches in qualifying for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

Nicolas Jackson put Senegal ahead in the 32nd minute. Mozambique hit back through Geny Catamo two minutes into first-half stoppage time.

The Lions of Teranga dominated for long spells but couldn't turn their control into a win on the road.

Elsewhere in the group, Sudan snatched a late win over Ethiopia. Mohamed Issa struck the only goal from the penalty spot in the 86th minute, in a match played in Juba, the capital of South Sudan.

The top two in each group qualify for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations finals, set to be staged in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
