The game never looked to be as close as a few days ago after WA bowled poorly with the new ball, allowing the home side to race out of the blocks in the first innings. Despite the loss of some quick wickets, late cameos carried them to 8/301 with all the momentum going into the innings break. Unlike WA, the NSW bowlers took 4 wickets in the powerplay, and held on to their advantage as the rest of the batters fell one by one.
