Murray out in straight sets

Andy Murray’s Wimbledon return came to an end on Centre Court late on Friday evening.

It was a comfortable win for Canadian 10th seed Denis Shapovalov, who secured a 6-4 6-2 6-2 victory.

The left-hander revealed post-match that he had completed a lifetime ambition. 

Shapovalov, 22, said: "I put in countless years of hard work to play on Centre Court and to play Andy in a match like this. It is amazing to be here."

Evans defeated by Korda

British No1 Dan Evans fell short of reaching the last 16 for the first time after he was defeated by unseeded Sebastian Korda in the second game on Centre Court this afternoon.

Korda, 20, looked comfortable in the SW19 spotlight as won 6-3 3-6 6-3 6-4, living up to the pre-tournament hype that surrounded the man from the United States.

He said: "A year ago, I was 220 in the world and I’m here in the fourth round at Wimbledon. It’s incredible. I have my family to thank, my coaches and everybody around me."

Novak Djokovic is through to the last 16 after he beat Denis Kudla in straight sets on Court 1.

Kudla had kept it close at times throughout contest but ultimately didn't have enough to deter the world No1 who won 6-4 6-3 7-6 (9-7).

The Serb remains on course to become the first player to win all 4 Grand Slams and Olympic Gold since Steffi Graf's in 1988.
