Manchester United want to sign a goalkeeper who is more comfortable with his feet than David de Gea.

The Independent claim Red Devils chiefs are keen to give Erik ten Hag a fall-back option should his current No1's distribution issues rear their head again.

They have named both Eintracht Frankfurt stopper Kevin Trapp and Borussia Monchengladbach custodian Yann Sommer as leading candidates.

The report suggests Trapp, 32, would be open to an Old Trafford switch, but that Frankfurt would want £8.4million for the ex-Paris Saint-Germain man.

Meanwhile, Swiss keeper Sommer, 33, is also under consideration, though whether or not the Monchengladbach star would want the move remains unclear.

Ten Hag was said to be pleased with De Gea’s display in the 2-1 win over Liverpool on Monday — especially his willingness to come off his line.

But the need for a ball-playing keeper in the Dutchman's philosophy puts question marks over the decision to allow Dean Henderson to leave on loan for Nottingham Forest.

Henderson, 25, revealed he did not even speak to the new boss after he arrived and was determined to head out and play regular football after a "wasted season” last term.

But there is a strong chance that staying put would have seen him force his way into Ten Hag’s first-choice XI.

TalkSPORT say Everton want Conor Gallagher or Armando Broja on loan if they are to sell Anthony Gordon to Chelsea in a £60m deal.

The Toffees are also in the market for Watford forward Joao Pedro, who has been the subject of bids from Newcastle, claim The Mirror.

Sport believe that Barcelona are keen on signing Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin.
