Manchester City are interested in bringing Brighton's World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister to the Etihad, according to the Daily Star.

The midfield maestro, 24, has been linked with a move away from the Seagulls since playing a prominent role in Argentina's winter triumph and Pep Guardiola could pounce when the transfer window opens.

Mac Allister has featured in 19 Premier League games for the South Coast side this season, scoring five times as Roberto De Zerbi's men continue to catch the eye.

Brighton currently sit eighth but have the chance to overtake both Liverpool and Fulham by winning their games in hand.

And the Albiceleste international has been a key part of a high-pressing setup which has seen the club pick up impressive wins over the Reds, Chelsea and Manchester United in 2022-23.

Guardiola believes the midfielder would be the perfect addition to his world-class squad and would be willing to meet Brighton's £70million valuation.

The Spaniard is keen to freshen up his playing group after a mediocre season to date which has left the champions trailing Arsenal in their attempt to retain the Premier League title.

Mac Allister's contract runs until 2025, putting the Seagulls in control of the situation ahead of what is set to be another busy summer of spending for most clubs.
