Transfer Talk: Inter Miami desperate to land Messi and Busquets
Inter Miami are keen on signing Lionel Messi and his former Barcelona team-mate Sergio Busquets, manager Phil Neville has revealed.
Messi’s future at Paris Saint-Germain is uncertain, with the Argentine World Cup winner reportedly considering whether to exercise his 12-month extension option to remain in the French capital past the summer.
Barca legend Busquets looks almost certain to depart the Camp Nou at the end of the season and Miami boss Neville has made no secret of his desire to bring both star names to MLS.
In an interview with The Times, the 46-year-old said: "I’m not going to deny [it and say] there isn’t truth in the speculation that we’re interested in Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets.
"We want to bring the best players in the world to this football club. Messi and Busquets are the two that stand out more in recent years.
"They're great players who would still be a massive benefit to this organisation. For MLS, it would be a game-changer."
But further reports indicate Barca are growing increasingly confident of a reunion with Messi in Catalonia.
Blaugrana president Joan Laporta has met with the 35-year-old’s father Jorge to discuss what the future would look like for him back with the Blaugrana, according to 90min.
Messi is keen to add to his record seven Ballon d’Or titles, so remaining in Europe with Xavi's men could be the preferable option over a move to the United States.
