Tottenham and Newcastle Target Darwin Nunez as Ex-Liverpool Star Eyes Premier League Return from Al Hilal

Premier League pair Tottenham and Newcastle are weighing up a summer move for former Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez, reports TEAMtealk.
Nunez left the Reds for Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal last year in a deal worth a reported £46m.
The Uruguay international started the season as first choice frontman for the Saudi powerhouse having started 14 league games, scoring six times in the process.
Nunez out of favour
However, Nunez was axed from Al Hilal’s league squad for the second half of the season having failed to secure a winter switch to Turkish side Fenerbahce.
Fenerbahce had hoped to land the 26-year-old as a replacement for Youssef En-Nesyri, who left for Al Ittihad.
The Moroccan hitman departed the Super Lig side in order to succeed Karim Benzema, the Frenchman having moved to Al Hilal to replace Nunez.
As such, the ex-Reds striker was omitted from Al Hilal Saudi Pro League squad for the second half of the league campaign, though he remains eligible for the AFC Champions League, and recently bagged a brace in a 2-1 win over Al-Wahda.
World Cup hopes in the balance
The omission is a huge blow to Nunez and his World Cup hopes, the striker having not made an appearance for Marcelo Bielsa’s side since September.
And now Nunez is weighing up a summer return to Europe following a disastrous spell in the Middle East.
That has alerted Spurs and Newcastle, who are both expected to dip into the striker market once the campaign draws to a close.
Spurs tipped to reinforce frontline
Spurs have been left frustrated by both Dominic Solanke and Richarlison’s inability to remain fit over the course of the campaign.
Solanke has been restricted to just four league starts, while Richarlison had endured a stop-start season owing to a series of muscle injuries.
In addition, the north London side are unlikely to make Randal Kolo Muani’s move permanent with the Frenchman disappointing during his loan spell in the capital.
Nunez to replace Woltemade?
Newcastle, meanwhile, are wary that Nick Woltemade may push to secure a summer exit having reportedly become unhappy at St. James’ Park.
The Germany international started the season brightly but has failed to score in his last 10 league outings having fired a blank in Saturday’s 2-1 loss at Manchester City.
A return to Germany has been mooted with former side VfB Stuttgart and Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich both said to be keeping tabs on the 24-year-old.
