MLS side LA Galaxy are considering a move for Manchester United’s Brazilian midfielder Casemiro, reports the Daily Mail.
Casemiro’s current deal at Old Trafford expires at the end of the season and it’s already been confirmed that he will leave the club in the summer.
A lucrative switch to Saudi Arabia has also been mooted for the United star, who turns 34 later this month.
Casemiro has been key for United
The experienced Brazil international moved to United from Real Madrid in 2022, and helped the Manchester giants secure the EFL Cup in his debut campaign.
United won the FA Cup in Casemiro’s second season at the club, though his influence waned after their domestic triumph.
Casemiro was linked with a move away from the club 18 months’ ago, and reportedly turned down a summer switch to Saudi Pro League giants Al-Nassr, but has gone on to become a key player for the Premier League powerhouse once more.
Designated rule could pave way for Casemiro MLS switch
And a potential move to MLS is now in the pipeline for Casemiro under the designated player rule.
Introduced in 2007, the rule enabled LA Galaxy to sign David Beckham, with the former England international’s salary way above the league salary cap.
Casemiro could become the third United player to make the move to LA, following in Beckham and Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s footsteps, the latter joining the Galaxy from United in 2018.
Casemiro is expected to play a key role for United in the coming months as they seek to secure a Champions League finish.
United's impressive start under Carrick
Michael Carrick has made an impressive start to life back in the Old Trafford dugout having succeeded Ruben Amorim as head coach until the end of the season.
Carrick has overseen wins over Manchester City, Arsenal and Fulham, the latter pair coming via late goals from Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko, respectively.
Next up for United is the welcome of Tottenham before a midweek trip to east London to take on relegation threatened West Ham.
