Man City in ‘Advanced Talks’ to Sign Elliot Anderson as Man Utd Suffer Major Transfer Blow

Manchester United have been rocked by news that Manchester City are in ‘advanced talks’ to sign number one transfer target Elliot Anderson, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.
The Nottingham Forest star is set to be at the centre of a transfer tug of war this summer with the Manchester pair keen to land the England international.
Forest did well to stave off interest in Anderson during the January window but have conceded that the former Newcastle man will leave the club later this year.
United and City to battle for Anderson
The Magpies would be keen to bring Anderson back to St. James’ Park, though they would have to sell either Bruno Guimaraes or Sandro Tonali to fund a move for the 23-year-old.
United are known admirers of Anderson as they gear up for a midfield revamp, with Brighton’s Carlos Baleba and Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton both targets for Michael Carrick’s side.
However, they have been dealt a huge blow in their quest to sign Anderson with Fabrizio Romano stating that the midfielder’s representatives are in talks with City over a move to the Etihad Stadium.
City in 'advanced talks' to sign Anderson
“Man City are pushing to sign Anderson, and are in advanced talks with his agents and advanced talks in terms of asking about the situation of the player,” Romano began on his YouTube channel.
“So nothing has been agreed, but I mean advanced conversations about enquiring for the player.
“So Man City have been clear - they see Elliot Anderson as a target. We’re not yet at the stage of personal terms agreed or deal done. But for sure Man City have confirmed their interest to those close to Anderson.”
“Manchester United are attentive to the situation as well. Man Utd love the player, but at the moment, Man City are pushing because in midfield, Man City will be very busy as well.”
Casemiro and Ugarte set for summer United exit
United are expected to turn their attention elsewhere as they gear up for a significant summer in their bid to strengthen in the middle of the park.
Casemiro leaves the club once his contract expires at the end of the season, while Manuel Ugarte is expected to be shown the Old Trafford exit having struggled for game time this season.
