Liverpool have identified RB Leipzig Yan Diomande as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah this summer, reports TEAMtalk.

Diomande has exploded onto the scene with the German giants this season having scored nine goals and provided an additional five assists for RBL.

And his performances in Germany have not gone unnoticed with a number of European powerhouse sides monitoring the teenager.

Diomande attracting interest

Bayern Munich have been credited with an interest in the 19-year-old wing-wizard, while Manchester United are also hoping to bring the young wideman to the Premier League.

However, it’s Liverpool who look to be in pole position to sign Diomande, who is now being touted as the long-term successor for Salah.

The Egypt international is widely expected to leave Liverpool this summer despite penning a two-year deal at Anfield last April.

Salah has fallen out of favour under head coach Arne Slot on numerous occasions this season, while the former Roma man accused the club of “throwing him under the bus” following a 3-3 draw with Leeds back in December.

Salah set for summer Saudi switch

A January exit was mooted, though didn’t come to fruition as Salah jetted off to the Africa Cup of Nations with Egypt.

The 33-year-old is now tipped to secure a high-profile switch to the Saudi Pro League over the summer, with a number of Middle East sides looking to lure the forward away from the Premier League.

And with a move for Michael Olise looking unlikely, the Frenchman expected to stay at Bayern, Liverpool are believed to have turned their attention to Diomande.

The Ivorian won’t come cheap, however, with RB Leipzig expected to demand close to £100m for their prized asset, who only moved to the Bundesliga side last summer.

Liverpool aiming to respond to midweek loss

Liverpool saw their top-four hopes suffer a blow in midweek as they fell to a shock 2-1 loss at table footers Wolves.

The Reds, though, have a chance to immediately make amends when they take on Rob Edwards’ side at Molineux in the FA Cup this weekend.
