Liverpool see Lewis Hall as the ideal long-term replacement for Andy Robertson

Liverpool have eyes on Newcastle left-back Lewis Hall and he could be seen as the long-term replacement for Andy Robertson, according to Caught Offside.
The future of Robertson is up in the air after 371 appearances for the Reds. Robertson has cemented himself as one of the Premier League's greatest ever full-backs, with a whopping 60 assists to his name and two titles, as well as a Champions League.
But at 32, and with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, if he remains at all, he might not occupy the same role he has done for much of his time at Anfield.
In January, it was reported Tottenham wanted to sign him, and though nothing happened on that front, the Reds are looking to a future without him.
Caught Offside reports scouts from Liverpool have been watching Newcastle left-back Lewis Hall, as have scouts from a number of other big clubs: Manchester City, Arsenal, RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund, and several La Liga sides.
Hall's standout performance against Barcelona is said to have caught the eye of big clubs, and at Liverpool, the report suggests the left-back could be seen as the long-term replacement for Robertson.
Hall has been one of the Premier League's most consistent left-backs this term and a move to a bigger club than Newcastle - who have struggled more than expected this season - could beckon.
The aforementioned game against Barcelona saw Hall rated the fifth best player on the pitch, with even Barca goalscorer Lamine Yamal below him.
The left-back made five key passes, was successful in both of his dribbles, made two progressive carries, one interception and seven recoveries.
A starring performance against one of the world's best clubs, and Hall showing no signs of fear up against one of the very best players in the world, in Yamal, will certainly stand him in good stead.
But while there are big clubs on alert as a result of performances on the big stage, Newcastle aren't planning on making Hall's signing easy for anybody.
The report states their stance is crystal clear: Hall is not for sale. Though there are some financial pressures on the club, the left-back is excluded from any transfer lists.
He is, in fact, going to be the subject of a new contract discussions, to renew his deal, which currently expires in 2029 - a show of faith in his abilities and an acknowledgement that clubs could come in with big contract offers of their own.
If Hall was to depart St James' Park, it would take £65-70million for Newcastle to even consider talks, but before that is to happen, they plan to balance the books with the sale of other players.
Fans would also be opposed to any sale, and the Magpies will be keen to keep supporters on side by maintaining their current options, especially one who is tipped to be England's starting left-back for the foreseeable future.
As such, whether Liverpool or any other interested side will make the effort to sign Hall remains to be seen, as no move will be made easy.
