Tottenham Captain Cristian Romero Attracting Interest from Top European Clubs Ahead of Summer Transfer Window

A number of top European sides are considering a move for Tottenham captain Cristian Romero this summer according to a report from Fabrizio Romano.
Romero was heavily linked with a move away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last year but opted to put pen to paper on a new deal with the north London side.
And while Spurs started the season brightly, they have quickly fallen away having struggled under Thomas Frank and now Igor Tudor.
Spurs struggled in Spain
The Argentine returned from a four-match ban in the Champions League on Tuesday as Spurs capitulated to a 5-2 defeat to Atletico Madrid.
The Europa League winners were four goals down with just 20 minutes on the clock following a disastrous night in Madrid.
Atletico were one of the frontrunners for Romero last summer and are expected to firm up their interest in the Argentina international once more should Spurs entertain a sale.
Relegation may prompt Romero exit
Tottenham are currently under no pressure to sell their prized centre-back, but the situation may change should they drop into the Championship.
Spurs are mired on an 11-game winless run in the Premier League and their dire form has seen the club drop down the table.
Heading into the weekend’s game at Liverpool, the club sit just one point above the relegation zone with nine matches to play.
Spurs make the trip to Anfield without Micky van de Ven, who was sent off in last week’s 3-1 loss to Crystal Palace.
Romero, meanwhile, may also miss the game on Merseyside after the defender and midfielder Joao Palhinha appeared to suffer concussion injuries late on against Atletico to add to the club's absentee woes.
Pressure mounting on Tudor
When asked whether both players would be available for Sunday’s game, Tudor said: “I don't know. We will see. I don't know.”
Tudor himself may not be in charge for the Liverpool match with pressure mounting on the Croatian.
The former Juventus manager has overseen just four games since succeeding Frank last month, but Spurs have lost all four, conceding 14 goals in the process.
