Named the 'natural heir' to Gabriel Magalhaes, Cristhian Mosquera will reportedly depart Arsenal on loan next season, with a search for the 'right destination' ongoing, reports SportsBoom.
When Mosquera joined Arsenal in the summer, he did so as an exciting prospect, but added to a stacked backline, including Gabriel, William Saliba, Riccardo Calafiori, Ben White and Jurrien Timber.
Those are just the defenders who can play both in the centre and on one of the flanks, with more specialist defenders in the squad.
As such, it's not hard to see why Mosquera has struggled for minutes, with the former Valencia man starting just six times in the Premier League, a figure partly hindered by an ankle injury.
But it seems the Gunners don't plan to give him much more game time any time soon.
Indeed, it's reported the defender is one of the most popular names in the loan market for the summer transfer window and Arsenal are searching for the 'right destination' for him.
While it's reported a €45-50million (£39.1-43.5m) offer could see Arsenal open the door, their intention to sell Mosquera is almost none, and they'd instead prefer to loan him out, believing his value could exceed €60million (£52.1m).
Mosquera has big future
The report labels Mosquera the 'future tower' of the Arsenal defence, but notes that his game time will continue to be hindered by Gabriel and Saliba.
Mosquera is reportedly seen as the 'natural heir' post-Gabriel, so the club's desire not to let him go permanently makes sense.
There is already a lot of interest reported in the two-time Spanish international.
The report states that Everton are leading the English pursuit, with Bournemouth also viewing Mosquera as a perfect fit for their defensive set-up, which could be a useful move given Marcos Senesi could depart in the summer.
Elsewhere, Italian clubs Atalanta and Napoli are said to be fans of the Arsenal defender's, while in Portugal, giants Benfica want to add to Mosquera's Champions League experience.
In France, Monaco and Marseille are also closely following the Spaniard, and it's believed at either of those clubs, he'd be offered guaranteed minutes.
With Arsenal desirous of giving Mosquera a starting place at the heart of their defence at some point in the near future, a move to an English club might make the most sense, but their stance is not reported.
