Aston Villa and Tottenham Eye Lyon Star Pavel Sulc as Premier League Transfer Battle Heats Up

Premier League duo Aston Villa and Tottenham are among a number of sides keeping tabs on Lyon midfielder Pavel Sulc, reports the Daily Mail.
Sulc only moved to the French outfit last summer but his performances under Paulo Fonseca have caught the eye.
Indeed, the 25-year-old has been a key man for the Ligue 1 side this season having scored 10 goals and provided three assists despite making just 13 league starts.
And his showings across the channel haven’t gone unnoticed with the Premier League pair reportedly keeping tabs on the Czechia international.
Villa and Spurs monitoring Sulc
Villa were keen to bring in a new midfielder in January having lost Boubacar Kamara, Youri Tielemans and John McGinn to injury last month.
The Villans were linked with a move for Ruben Loftus-Cheek and ultimately re-signed Douglas Luiz on loan after they missed out on Conor Gallagher, the England international moving to Spurs from Atletico Madrid.
The north London side, meanwhile, are keen on reinforcing their forward line with both James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski long-term absentees.
Pair would face competition for Lyon man
Villa and Spurs aren’t the only Premier League sides interested in Sulc, with Nottingham Forest and Leeds also believed to be keeping tabs on the former Viktoria Plzen star, while La Liga giants Atletico Madrid are said to be monitoring Sulc.
Lyon, though, would command a hefty fee for a player they signed less than a year ago with the Czech star shining in France’s top tier.
Lyon back in title contention
Paulo Fonseca’s Lyon side are going strong in Ligue 1 at present having won their last seven league matches, a run of form that has thrust OL back into title contention.
Fonseca’s men can move to within six points of league leaders and defending champions PSG with a win at Strasbourg on Sunday evening.
Lyon then face a potentially decisive clash with Marseille to kick off March as they aim to keep on the coattails of PSG.
