Arsenal Set to Battle Tottenham for Leon Goretzka as Bayern Munich Exit Confirmed

Arsenal are prepared to rival Tottenham in the race to sign Leon Goretzka from Bayern Munich at the end of the season, reports Bayern Insider.
Goretzka was linked with a move to Spurs in the January window, though they prioritised Conor Gallagher as they aimed to strengthen their midfield.
Merino injury impacts Arsenal
Arsenal, meanwhile, were weighing up a late transfer to strengthen in the middle of the park after it was confirmed that Mikel Merino would miss a significant chunk of the season following foot surgery.
Reports saw the Gunners linked with a deadline day push for Sandro Tonali, though those rumours were swiftly rebuffed.
However, Arsenal are expected to bring in an experienced midfielder in the summer with Germany international Goretzka emerging as a potential target.
Goretzka will leave Bayern this summer
The 30-year-old’s current deal expires in the summer and it’s been confirmed that he will leave Bayern at the end of the season.
“The club and I have decided, after good and constructive discussions, that our successful time together will come to an end this summer,” Goretzka wrote in a statement on Instagram over the weekend.
Goretzka joined Bayern from Schalke in 2018 and has made just shy of 300 appearances for the Bavarian powerhouse.
And Arsenal and Spurs are tipped to firm up their rumoured interest in Goretzka later this year.
Arsenal will face Man City or Newcastle in EFL Cup final
Arsenal booked their place in the EFL Cup final on Tuesday night as they wrapped up a 4-2 aggregate win over Chelsea.
The north London side will face either Manchester City or Newcastle in next month’s showpiece.
City hold a two-goal advantage having claimed a 2-0 win over the Magpies at St. James’ Park last month.
