AC Milan have pulled the plug on the Jean-Philippe Mateta transfer following medical checks, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
Juventus are constantly monitoring the situation at Milan and could make their move accordingly.
Knee problem rules out Mateta to Milan
In the final hours of the January transfer window, Mateta's proposed £26 million transfer to AC Milan appears to have collapsed due to a knee problem uncovered during the forward's medical tests.
It's understood that Milan will not pursue any further negotiations with Crystal Palace.
The Rossoneri had initially pipped Nottingham Forest for Mateta's services, after it was initially reported that they were first to submit a bid.
Mateta was also linked with Aston Villa, who took the cheaper route and re-signed Tammy Abraham from Besiktas for £18.25m.
The 28-year-old has fired in 10 goals in 34 appearances this season.
Jorgen Strand Larsen move to Crystal Palace unaffected
The South Londoners themselves acquired Evann Guessand from Villa on loan with an option to buy come the end of the season for £28m.
Their deal for Jorgen Strand Larsen from Wolverhampton Wanderers is said to move forward as expected, with the Norwegian having completed his medical ahead of a club record £48m transfer fee.
Strand Larsen is poised to be Crystal Palace's next leading linesman, as Mateta had informed the club of his desire to depart Selhurst Park.
"It is nothing to do right now with the transfers. He is not in the (right) place. To play makes no sense. We have to protect the team and I have to protect him. That is why he will not travel with us to Nottingham," ushered Glasner when he left Mateta out of Eagles' trip to Nottingham Forest.
And therefore, a possible loan deal with Juventus could be on the cards with hours left on the deadline.
Palace have already splashed £35m on Brennan Johnson as they continue to bring reinforcements in after the departure of key players since the summer.
