Gauff can conquer New York again
Coco Gauff already knows what it takes to win the US Open and she returns to Flushing Meadows with her confidence high after a superb North American hard-court swing.
The American won Cincinnati in 2023 before going on to claim her maiden Grand Slam title in New York and has given herself the chance to repeat that trick after lifting the same trophy earlier this month.
Her serve has caused problems in the past, but it has looked much more reliable recently, while her forehand has also been considerably more consistent.
The rest of Gauff's game remains as formidable as ever, with her athleticism, court coverage and exceptional backhand making her one of the toughest players in the world to break down.
The 22-year-old has also produced strong recent results in Toronto and enters her home Grand Slam looking capable of putting together another title-winning fortnight.
Gauff is unlikely to have things all her own way, but Sabalenka's recent dip and the uncertainty surrounding some of her biggest rivals make it a tempting price for the former champion.

Elena Rybakina has never progressed beyond the fourth round at the US Open, but there are reasons to believe the Australian Open champion can improve on that record this year.

She has already shown her ability to compete with and beat the world's best players, while another deep run in New York could see her take over at world number one.
