Hinds wants Reds to taste sweet derby success over Toffees

Liverpool star Taylor Hinds has warned Everton to expect a very different Merseyside derby to last season when the Women's Super League rivals collide on Sunday.

The club's vice-captain, 24, featured as the Toffees silenced an Anfield crowd of more than 27,000 with an unexpected 3-0 win.

But Hinds insists she and her team-mates are not carrying any baggage from the loss.

Speaking exclusively to LiveScore, she said: "We've got a completely different team now, so we're not looking back. We're only looking forward.

"For us, it's all about how we can implement the strengths we have now into this weekend's game. We're pushing ourselves a bit more now.

"I think you can see there's a lot of fight in this side — not just in defence but also from the forward line.

"We'll need that aggression again to hopefully get another three points on the board on Sunday.

"Last season it was such an unreal experience, even though we didn't get the win.

"But that gives us motivation this time. We're even more eager to play in front of our fans at Anfield and come out with the right result."

Fast start

Matt Beard's Liverpool sit joint top of the WSL after two games, having stunned title hopefuls Arsenal 1-0 at the Emirates on the opening day before overcoming Aston Villa 2-0 last weekend.

That fast start caught many pundits off guard but Hinds insists those inside the changing room were far from shocked.

She added: "I wouldn't say it has been a surprise to us.

"We know how much talent we have in our group and Beardy has created a great environment on and off the pitch. We have so much belief in each other.

"Anything can happen in these games and we've really stepped up our standards, which is why we've managed to get some great results and put in great performances."

Now the challenge is to maintain those high standards, with a top-four tilt not being ruled out by Liverpool's No12.

Hinds said: "Of course it's a goal. We've set our standards from the start and we have a plan of where we want to be by the end of the season.

"But at the same time, we're not getting ahead of ourselves. Games can come and go. You could win two then slip up in two and it levels out — we'll take it a game at a time."

Beard's side recently inherited the Melwood training facility previously used by Liverpool's men's sides for 70 years. 

And versatile ace Hinds is convinced the improved facilities are helping the Reds set new standards. 

She explained: "It's so nice. Being able to train on such nice surfaces, it prepares you so much better going into games.

"The changing room is great. We're able to use ice baths to recover and the gym facilities are also amazing.

"The food is so nice and all the staff are lovely. It's like a big family already.

"It's what we should expect to have as a top team in the WSL and it shows where women's football is going, as well as Liverpool as a club."
