Moyes offered contract

Speaking before West Ham's match against Brentford on Monday night, David Moyes confirmed he has been offered a new contract to remain in his position beyond this season.

The deal is said to tie the Scot to the East London club until 2026 but he is waiting until the summer before making a decision.

Moyes said: "I've had really good conversations with the owners, with David [Sullivan] and Karren Brady.

"There's a contract there for me and I'm the one deciding I want to wait until the end of the season."

West Ham are currently without a win in eight games, losing their three most recent outings.

Yet Moyes is being offered a reward based on his achievements at the London Stadium, with last season's Europa Conference League triumph being the first trophy won by the club since 1980.

Glasner outlines goals for Palace

New Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has outlined his plans for the Eagles to score more goals.

He said: "It's our job now to give solutions to the players where we can create chances. The first is to create chances, to create opportunities for scoring.

"I think we need more players in the box because 90% of all the goals are scored in the box. Sometimes we come from the wing, and we have one or maximum two players there.

"We encourage them to go there when it's worth it to go. But of course, it's not easy to get ten players into the box and then you score, but then you concede many goals, so to find the right balance.

"But it should be all our passion to score goals and to do everything as a team that we can create chances, so this is maybe the headline."

Only three teams have scored fewer goals in the Premier League this season than Palace, who host Burnley on Saturday.

De Zerbi focused on domestic situation

Roberto de Zerbi insisted he wants to focus on the present after being asked about Brighton's upcoming Europa League clash with Roma.

The Seagulls manager said: "I want to keep my eyes on the Everton game and then we play in the FA Cup.

"Then we will think about Roma and the game in the Europa League.

"For sure it's a tough game, but if we want to go far then we have to win against Roma or another team."

Brighton are currently seventh in the Premier League and are preparing to host Everton on Saturday.

They will play last season's beaten finalists Roma in the Europa League's Round of 16.

Emery gives surgical update

Unai Emery has spoken about Boubacar Kamara's knee injury with the Aston Villa playmaker having had surgery on Thursday.

The Spanish manager was asked about Villa's fitness issues before the clash with Nottingham Forest.

Emery said: "Still injured are the players who had surgery, like [Tyrone] Mings, [Emiliano] Buendia and Kamara.

"Kamara had it yesterday. Mings and Buendia every day are closer to starting to return, but they will not play this season.

"[Ezri] Konsa is progressing very well but still out for this match. [Diego] Carlos is working alone and [Jhon] Duran. The other players are ready for tomorrow."

Aston Villa are two points ahead of fifth-place Tottenham and hold a five-point advantage over Manchester United in the Champions League race.

Arsenal eye Newcastle revenge

Mikel Arteta says Arsenal will be looking for revenge when they host Newcastle tomorrow.

The Gunners lost 1-0 in the reverse fixture — a feisty match that saw Anthony Gordon score a controversial winner.

Arteta said: "I could sense in the dressing room straight away that we wanted to play the next day.

"After that defeat, that feeling that you get, I'm sure that when they come back in an hour or two, I'm going to be seeing that desire again."

Arsenal lost 1-0 at Porto in the Champions League on Wednesday and Arteta also considers that result a possible motivator against the Magpies.

He added: "What happened in another competition is there but what you cannot deny is what is in your tummy after a defeat.

"We have to use it in a really powerful way to be better."

United suffer Hojlund blow

Erik ten Hag has confirmed Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund will face a spell on the sidelines with injury.

The Dutch manager was speaking ahead of the Red Devils' Premier League clash with Fulham tomorrow.

Ten Hag said: "It is a small injury, two or three weeks.

"It is a risk in high-intensity training. It is not a big injury but he has to wait for two, three weeks."

Hojlund has scored seven goals in his last six appearances for United.

His form has seen Ten Hag's team rise to sixth place in the Premier League, putting them back into contention for Champions League qualification.

Pep talks De Bruyne fitness

Pep Guardiola expects Kevin De Bruyne to be available for Manchester City's trip to Bournemouth tomorrow evening.

The Belgian midfielder missed the 1-0 victory against Brentford last Tuesday and the Citizens manager was asked about his fitness.

Guardiola said: "It is good. Not injured.

"I don't know if he is 100% but we took a good decision [against Brentford].

"We didn't take a risk. People ask why didn't Kevin play but it's because he didn't feel comfortable.

"This week he came and trained by himself but I am pretty sure he will travel."

Newcastle get triple boost

Eddie Howe had some much needed good news on the fitness front for Newcastle fans ahead of the Magpies' trip to Arsenal.

Joe Willock and Alexander Isak are in contention to face the Gunners to boost an injury-hit squad.

Howe said: "They have trained this week. It has been good to see them back on the grass. It has been a long time for Joe, he is a huge player for us.

"Alex is an important player for us too. We have one more training session today. We won't take any risks but we are pleased with their progress."

Howe also confirmed Fabian Schar should be fit after the defender left the pitch holding his arm in the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth last week.

He said: "I think it just twisted his wrist. So fingers crossed it's not too serious because we can certainly do without another injury linked to the arm."
