There are 9 League One fixtures to look forward to on Saturday, 7th March, including Cardiff's title tussle with Lincoln City
  • The division’s top meet at lunchtime when Cardiff and Lincoln face off in a crunch title race encounter in Wales.

  • Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield and Rotherham go head-to-head for points and bragging rights at the Accu Stadium.

  • Wigan are chasing a third win in four games since rehiring Gary Caldwell when they visit Lancashire neighbours Blackpool.

With the FA Cup taking precedence, there is a slightly reduced League One fixture programme on Saturday, 7th March, though there are still nine matches to plough through in England’s third tier.

The day begins with two lunchtime kick-offs, with the standout there undoubtedly the title race showdown between leaders Cardiff and chasers Lincoln in the Welsh capital.

Alongside coverage of that key clash in Cardiff, we’ve also got League One predictions and tips for every single League One contest scheduled for Saturday.

Cardiff vs Lincoln (Saturday, 12:30 pm)

First meets second in Wales on Saturday when leaders Cardiff host second-place Lincoln in what should be a crucial juncture in this season’s League One title race. Cardiff and Lincoln, who are separated by just a single point, both enjoyed 4-0 wins (vs Doncaster, Blackpool) in their last assignments, so neither will be short on confidence. Lincoln haven’t lost a league fixture since November 22nd however, and the Imps can prove their title credentials on Saturday.

Score prediction: Cardiff 2-2 Lincoln

Huddersfield vs Rotherham (Saturday, 12:30 pm)

Huddersfield’s top-six hopes were dented in a 1-0 loss to Wigan last weekend, though the Terriers struck the woodwork twice in the first half and had little fortune. Still, Town can get back to business against Yorkshire rivals Rotherham. The Millers drew 0-0 with Mansfield in midweek and have failed to score in four of their last six games overall.

Score prediction: Huddersfield 1-0 Rotherham

Barnsley vs Exeter (Saturday, 3:00 pm)

Barnsley conceded 19 shots in their 1-0 loss at home to Wycombe on Tuesday and they’ve dropped points in five of their last seven League One matches overall. Exeter meanwhile, will have former player and boss Matt Taylor in the dugout again on Saturday following his recent appointment, and with his arrival providing a lift, City can avoid defeat.

Score prediction: Barnsley 1-1 Exeter

Blackpool vs Wigan (Saturday, 3:00 pm)

Wigan moved out of the drop zone with a 1-0 win over Huddersfield last time out, earning recent hire Gary Caldwell a second victory in three games in the process. Spirited Athletic could dig out something similar at Lancashire neighbours Blackpool, who were softened up by a 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Lincoln a week ago.

Score prediction: Blackpool 0-1 Wigan

Bolton vs Wycombe (Saturday, 3:00 pm)

Wycombe (6th) squeezed into the playoff positions with their 1-0 win at Barnsley last weekend, though they were more comfortable there than the tight scoreline suggested. That was only Wanderers’ second win in 11 attempts on the road in League One however, so don’t be surprised if Wycombe regress against a Bolton side that has pocketed 10 of the last 12 points at home.

Score prediction: Bolton 2-1 Wycombe

Bradford City vs Leyton Orient (Saturday, 3:00 pm)

Bradford conceded in the 90th and 97th minutes in their 2-1 reverse at Reading a week ago, so City will be relieved to return to their own patch on Saturday, where they have won 13 times in 17 attempts. Leyton Orient, who’ve lost 11 out of 16 away assignments in League One since August, look ill-equipped to cause an upset against the Bantams.

Score prediction: Bradford City 2-0 Leyton Orient

Burton vs Stevenage (Saturday, 3:00 pm)

Burton took a second-half lead but eventually had to settle for a share of the spoils at Exeter (1-1) on Tuesday evening, though Albion are chasing a third successive win at the Pirelli Stadium. Stevenage have been just as strong at home of late, though the playoff chasers are dismal on the road, where they have lost six times on the bounce. Look for Burton to harness home advantage against their travel-sick visitors.

Score prediction: Burton 1-0 Stevenage

Luton vs Reading (Saturday, 3:00 pm)

A shuffled Luton side booked their place in the Vertu Trophy Final with a win over Northampton (2-1) in the competition’s semi-finals in midweek, and back at Kenilworth Road on Saturday, where the Hatters haven’t lost in 17 games since October, they can keep the good results coming. Visiting Reading will be without injured leading marksman Jack Marriott and could fall short without him.

Score prediction: Luton 2-1 Reading

Plymouth vs Doncaster (Saturday, 3:00 pm)

Plymouth’s three-game winning burst came to an end at Rotherham (0-1) last weekend, though Argyle have a chance to rebound on Saturday. Plymouth hammered Doncaster 5-1 in late December in the clubs’ reverse fixture, and drawing inspiration from that, they can push for victory again.

Score prediction: Plymouth 2-1 Doncaster
