  • Borussia Dortmund have won four Bundesliga fixtures in a row ahead of their tussle with Bayer Leverkusen at Signal Iduna Park.

  • RB Leipzig are targeting a fifth win in six games when they host Borussia Monchengladbach.

  • Two of the division’s bottom five clubs collide at the RheinEnergieStadion when FC Koln take on Werder Bremen in a relegation six-pointer.

Game week 29 of the 2025/26 Bundesliga season opens on Friday evening at the WWK Arena, where FC Augsburg will be aiming to end a four-game winless slump at Hoffenheim’s expense.

On Saturday, a further five fixtures follow, with Borussia Dortmund’s encounter with Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich’s trip to play St. Pauli among the highlights.

Three matches fill Sunday’s card, including the clash between relegation rivals FC Koln and Werder Bremen, along with Stuttgart’s skirmish with Hamburg.

As per the normal routine, we’ve got free predictions and Bundesliga tips for all nine contests from week 29 of the campaign in Germany, starting with Friday evening’s televised entry from Augsburg.

FC Augsburg vs Hoffenheim (Friday, 7:30 pm)

Augsburg managed to snap their three-game losing streak with a 1-1 draw at Hamburg last week, though they played the last 30 minutes of that contest with a one-man advantage, and should have made more of it. Key defender Keven Schlotterbeck also picked up a suspension-triggering booking in that draw and will miss Friday’s meeting with Hoffenheim.

Hoffenheim, meanwhile, continue to slide and their 2-1 reverse at home to Mainz last weekend was their second defeat on the spin and third loss in five Bundesliga assignments. Christian Ilzer’s side created just 1.16 in xG against Mainz and they’ve scored one or fewer goals in four of their last five matches. Augsburg, who’ve lost only once in their last nine home games, could be the latest opponent to put a dent in Hoffenheim’s top-four hopes.

Score prediction: FC Augsburg 1-1 Hoffenheim

Borussia Dortmund vs Bayer Leverkusen (Saturday, 2:30 pm)

Borussia Dortmund were under the cosh for large parts of their encounter with Stuttgart last weekend, before landing two late counter punches in added time through Karim Adeyemi (93') and Julian Brandt (95') to snatch the points. That was Dortmund’s fourth successive victory in the Bundesliga and they’re favourites to add a fifth win to that string at Leverkusen’s expense.

Bayer showcased their attacking quality in a 6-3 triumph at home to Wolfsburg when last seen, though they are still unconvincing on their travels, winning only two of their last seven away games in Germany’s top tier. This Dortmund side has lost only once at Signal Iduna Park all season, and that was against Bayern Munich (2-3) in February. The hosts can make home advantage count again here.

Score prediction: Borussia Dortmund 2-1 Bayer Leverkusen

Heidenheim vs Union Berlin (Saturday, 2:30 pm)

Heidenheim matched Gladbach blow for blow in last week’s 2-2 draw with Die Fohlen in a pulsating draw that followed hot on the heels of a similar showing against Bayer Leverkusen (3-3). The division’s bottom club are still 11 points shy of safety and are virtually certain to be relegated, though they seem determined to go out with a bang.

Union Berlin still have designs on achieving a top-half finish, though their performances since the turn of the year have been inconsistent at best and the Iron Ones have failed to win 11 out of 13 Bundesliga fixtures since the end of the winter break. On the road, Union have lost four of their last five, so there is a chance they might suffer against a more motivated Heidenheim.

Score prediction: Heidenheim 2-1 Union Berlin

RB Leipzig vs Borussia Monchengladbach (Saturday, 2:30 pm)

Having demolished Hoffenheim 5-0 in their last home assignment on March 20th, RB Leipzig showed a different side to their character when visiting Werder Bremen a week ago. Despite weathering sustained pressure in both halves, Die Roten Bullen dug in and held on to secure a win (2-1) that pushed them up into third spot in the Bundesliga table.

Ole Werner’s charges should be able to play more expansively against leaky Gladbach, however. The visitors shipped 11 goals in their last four league fixtures combined, and 12 goals in their last four away matches, so expect Die Fohlen to toil against an RB Leipzig frontline packed with exciting attacking talent.

Score prediction: RB Leipzig 3-1 Borussia Monchengladbach

Wolfsburg vs Eintracht Frankfurt (Saturday, 2:30 pm)

Relegation-threatened Wolfsburg’s plight deepened last weekend when they lost 6-3 at Bayer Leverkusen, a result that leaves them six points from safety near the foot of the table. Die Wolfe have been in free fall since January, claiming just three of the last 33 points on offer, which equates to an 11-game run without a victory.

Eintracht Frankfurt are still adjusting to life under recent hire Albert Riera, and though they improved from an attacking sense in last weekend’s 2-2 draw with FC Koln, they did allow their opponents to manufacture a notable nine shots on target. Die Adler have yet to win an away fixture under Riera, and it wouldn’t be a shock if they slipped up at the Volkswagen Arena.

Score prediction: Wolfsburg 1-1 Eintracht Frankfurt

St. Pauli vs Bayern Munich (Saturday, 5:30 pm)

St. Pauli extracted a point from a tough trip to Union Berlin (1-1) last weekend to keep their survival hopes alive. The spirited minnows have avoided defeat in five of their last eight assignments overall, though a date with champions-elect Bayern Munich on Saturday evening is unlikely to yield much.

Bayern excelled in a 2-1 win at Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter finals on Tuesday evening, and coach Vincent Kompany is likely to make changes to his XI in a bid to keep players fresh for the second leg. He did similar against Freiburg last weekend, which led to some disjointedness, though Die Roten eventually got over the line in dramatic fashion, coming from two goals down to prevail through a 98th-minute decider from Lennart Karl. With another shuffled pack, Bayern might lack fluency against St. Pauli, though their quality should eventually shine through.

Score prediction: St. Pauli 1-2 Bayern Munich

FC Koln vs Werder Bremen (Sunday, 2:30 pm)

Two of the Bundesliga’s current bottom five meet at the RheinEnergieStadion in Sunday’s first fixture when FC Koln (15th) take on Werder Bremen (14th) in a key fixture in this season’s battle for survival. Koln are winless in their last eight attempts, though draws in each of their last three matches have allowed them to keep their necks above water.

With three wins in their last five assignments, Werder’s recent form has been stronger and they continue to improve under the instruction of Daniel Thioune, who was hired in February. Bremen were unlucky in defeat against RB Leipzig (1-2) a week ago and a similar display against Koln could yield a more positive result.

Score prediction: FC Koln 2-2 Werder Bremen

VfB Stuttgart vs Hamburg (Sunday, 4:30 pm)

Stuttgart dropped from third down to fourth following their loss at home to Dortmund (0-2) a week ago, though their performance on that occasion deserved better. That was only Die Schwaben’s second reverse in their last 15 Bundesliga fixtures however, and motivated by that loss, they will be determined to rebound against visiting Hamburg.

Hamburg dropped points for the sixth time in seven matches last weekend when they shared the spoils with Augsburg (1-1). They lost Miro Muheim to a red card in that draw and will be without the suspended wingback on Sunday as a result. To their credit, Hamburg gave a good account of themselves in recent meetings with Dortmund (2-3), Leverkusen (0-1) and RB Leipzig (1-2), and they could make themselves a nuisance again at Stuttgart.

Score prediction: VfB Stuttgart 3-2 Hamburg

Mainz vs Freiburg (Sunday, 6:30 pm)

Mainz continue to make excellent progress under Urs Fischer, as evidenced by their recent back-to-back 2-1 wins over highflying duo, Eintracht Frankfurt (7th) and Hoffenheim (5th). Mainz have now lost only twice in their last 19 fixtures in all competitions and are still involved on two fronts. Their tussle with Strasbourg in the Conference League on Thursday will test their ability to juggle multiple responsibilities again.

Freiburg were on course for a famous win over Bayern Munich (2-3) last weekend before fluffing their lines and relinquishing a two-goal lead. They will hope for better here, however, like Mainz, they were involved in Europe on Thursday (vs Celta Vigo, UEL), so their squad depth and energy levels will be examined on Sunday. Home advantage could tip this game in Mainz’s favour.

Score prediction: Mainz 2-1 Freiburg
