  • Port Vale play two matches in three days this week when they take on Barnsley and Peterborough in quick succession in League One.

  • Fresh from lifting the EFL Trophy, Luton will be aiming to strengthen their pursuit of the playoffs with a win at home to struggling Northampton on Wednesday.

  • League Two leaders Bromley face another stern test of their title credentials when they take on Cambridge (3

    rd) on Thursday evening.

There is a sprinkling of fixtures from League One and League Two to look forward to in midweek, with matches scheduled for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, from April 14th to 16th.

In the third tier, there are eight games split between three evenings of lower-league football to consume, with four matches from the division below pencilled in for Tuesday and one (Bromley vs Cambridge) carrying over to Thursday.

As always, we don’t miss a beat at LiveScore and we’ve got quick-fire previews from all 13 matches in League One and League Two scheduled to be played over the coming days.

League One

Bolton vs Stevenage Borough (Tuesday, 7:45 pm)

Bolton’s wobbly form continued on Saturday when they were deservedly beaten at Cardiff (2-0). Wanderers have now failed to win five of their last six matches in League One and they could drop more points on Tuesday. Visiting Stevenage were buoyed by an unexpected triumph at Bradford (1-0) at the weekend. The Playoff chasers have won three of their last four matches and have lost only three times in 12 assignments overall. In-form Borough can earn a share of the spoils here.

Score prediction: Bolton 1-1 Stevenage Borough

Huddersfield vs Cardiff (Tuesday, 7:45 pm)

Huddersfield were denied three points on Saturday by a 100th-minute Wycombe leveller, having established a late lead on 95 minutes themselves. That was the Terriers’ fourth draw in six games and they might have to settle for another point on Tuesday. Cardiff steadied themselves with a 2-0 win over Bolton last time out and the Bluebirds could seal automatic promotion with the right result on Tuesday. With that incentive providing impetus, City can avoid defeat at the Accu Stadium.

Score prediction: Huddersfield 1-1 Cardiff

Leyton Orient vs Mansfield (Tuesday, 7:45 pm)

Leyton Orient gave a decent account of themselves in their loss at champions-elect Lincoln on Saturday, though that defeat pushed their winless run to four games. Mansfield’s eight-match unbeaten streak ended at Wigan (2-1) the same day, though Town played well and were unfortunate to lose and they could bounce back to earn at least a point at Brisbane Road.

Score prediction: Leyton Orient 1-1 Mansfield

Port Vale vs Barnsley (Tuesday, 7:45 pm)

Port Vale begin their unusually busy midweek at home to Barnsley on Tuesday and they might find the going tough against the Tykes. Barnsley enjoyed a 3-1 South Yorkshire Derby win over Rotherham on Saturday, thanks in the main to a brace from veteran striker Tom Bradshaw. With that effort providing a significant confidence boost, Barnsley could land another away win, this time at Vale’s expense.

Score prediction: Port Vale 0-1 Barnsley

Wigan vs Rotherham (Tuesday, 7:45 pm)

Gary Caldwell’s Wigan seem to be peaking at the right time and their 2-1 win over Mansfield on Saturday allowed them to take a major leap towards securing their League One status. Next up, is a Rotherham side that has lost five and drawn three of its last eight fixtures. The Millers have also lost ten of their last 11 away tests, failing to score in each of the last six of those. Wigan should be in command here.

Score prediction: Wigan 2-0 Rotherham

AFC Wimbledon vs Stockport County (Wednesday, 7:45 pm)

Wimbledon’s late-season slide continued at the weekend when they lost to nil for the fourth game running in an uninspiring 1-0 reverse against Burton. The Dons’ 3-0 defeat at Stockport on March 28th kicked off that dismal run and they should find it difficult to match promotion-chasing County again on Wednesday. Stockport lost the final of the EFL Trophy on Sunday (1-3 vs Luton), however, they are unbeaten in five games in League One and they can get back to business in this one.

Score prediction: AFC Wimbledon 0-2 Stockport County

Luton vs Northampton (Wednesday, 7:45 pm)

Luton are in the groove and having just landed silverware in the form of the EFL Trophy with a fine 3-1 win over Stockport in Sunday’s final at Wembley, the Hatters can keep the good results coming at Northampton’s expense. The Cobblers, who look set to drop out of the division, have lost seven league games on the spin, and there is little evidence to suggest they can turn their rotten results around at Kenilworth Road.

Score prediction: Luton 3-0 Northampton

Peterborough vs Port Vale (Thursday, 7:45 pm)

Just two days after facing Barnsley, bottom club Port Vale must make the trek to Peterborough, and with the short turnaround between games likely to leave them fatigued, another loss could be in the works. The Posh’s home form has been consistent for a while, with Peterborough losing only two of their last ten matches at Weston Homes Stadium since mid-December. Expect them to take advantage of a tired Vale side.

Score prediction: Peterborough 2-0 Port Vale

League Two

Barrow vs Oldham (Tuesday, 7:45 pm)

Barrow battled bravely but eventually lost a five-goal thriller at Barnet (2-3) on Saturday, a loss that leaves them four points from safety with a handful of fixtures left to contest. Oldham need points for other reasons after their Playoff pursuit hit a bump at Shrewsbury (0-1). Athletic were unfortunate there, and won three out of four away assignments before that, so back Oldham to get back on track.

Score prediction: Barrow 0-1 Oldham

Cheltenham vs Gillingham (Tuesday, 7:45 pm)

Cheltenham produced what was arguably their best performance of the campaign so far on Saturday when they cantered to a 4-0 win at Walsall, and energised by that display, Town should be tough to stop on Tuesday. Visiting Gillingham have failed to win seven of their last eight away fixtures and failed to score in six of those matches, so it makes sense to oppose them again here.

Score prediction: Cheltenham 1-0 Gillingham

Chesterfield vs Grimsby (Tuesday, 7:45 pm)

Seventh meets eighth when Chesterfield take on Grimsby at the SMH Group Stadium on Tuesday, and the visiting Mariners look better equipped to prevail. Town have won four of their last five games in League Two, as well as five of their last eight fixtures on the road. Chesterfield meanwhile, have dropped points in all but one of their last four home games, and they were lucky to avoid defeat against a poor Tranmere outfit on Saturday. Side with Grimsby in this one.

Score prediction: Chesterfield 0-1 Grimsby

Colchester vs Accrington Stanley (Tuesday, 7:45 pm)

Colchester took full advantage of an early Swindon red card to down the Robins 3-0 on Saturday, recording their second successive win to nil in the process. United will be targeting more of the same when they host an Accies side that continues to wilt. Stanley have lost five of their last six assignments in the fourth tier and have won just once in their last 11 attempts overall. Back Colchester to complete a hattrick of wins.

Score prediction: Colchester 2-0 Accrington Stanley

Bromley vs Cambridge United (Thursday, 7:45 pm)

Leaders Bromley lost at automatic promotion rivals MK Dons (1-2) last time out, but remain four points clear at the summit. Visiting Cambridge (3rd) are good enough to eat into that buffer, however. United excelled when they put four goals without reply past Notts County (4th) on Saturday and they’ve already beaten Bromley once this term (2-1, October). It wouldn’t be a surprise if Cambridge completed the double over the table toppers on Thursday.

Score prediction: Bromley 1-2 Cambridge United
