Florida Panthers vs Detroit Red Wings Preview, Predictions and How to Watch

The Detroit Red Wings and Florida Panthers will go into tonight’s clash seeking improvements. The Red Wings (2-1) secured a second straight win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday, a 3-2 success, but coach Todd McLellan was still disappointed by his team’s performance at Scotiabank Arena.
The two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Panthers (3-1) lost 5-2 to the Philadelphia Flyers in their last game to suffer their first defeat of the season and will be eager to make amends when they head north.
They will encounter a Detroit side that won back-to-back games against the Maple Leafs - the first coming on home ice on Saturday - but left Canada with a sense of frustration.
Head coach McLellan told NHL.com's Dave McCarthy: “We weren’t nearly as good as we were the other night.
“We couldn’t get ahead at all; we were always chasing the game as they were the other night. They were a quicker, harder, faster team. We were the slower team.
“Goaltending was huge, obviously. [Cam] Talbot had a superior effort between the pipes to give us even a chance to find some points. But then the resilience. We gave up a two-goal lead; we didn’t quit. We didn’t look real polished, but we didn’t quit, and that’s a good sign.”
Talbot will be hoping for a quieter night tomorrow after being called on to make 38 saves from 40 shots on Monday.
“My mindset is just be ready for whatever opportunities I get to play,” Talbot said.
“I feel like I can still play at a high level, and obviously, so can John [Gibson], and that’s why we brought him in. I feel like this tandem is going to be really good for us, and I feel like the guys are going to be really confident with whoever is in the net.”
McLellan will be hoping Lucas Raymond is available after leaving Monday’s game in the second period after a hit from Chris Tanev.
The Panthers opened a five-game road trip with defeat in Philadelphia despite the game being tied with just over four minutes left in regulation.
“They came out fast,” forward Sam Bennett told the Panthers’ official website. “They had a lot of jump to start the game. They put some good pressure on us. I thought we played well in the third [period]. We had a good pushback and a lot of chances. They capitalized, and we couldn’t get it back.”
