Takeaways from Week Ten's Philadelphia Eagles-Green Bay Packers Monday Night Football Game

Last night, the Philadelphia Eagles went into Lambeau Field and squeaked out a 10-7 win over the Green Bay Packers to improve to 7-2 on the season while remaining in first place in the NFC. At the same time, the Packers are now 5-3-1 and have lost their last two games. With Monday Night Football in the books, we have a takeaway for both Green Bay and Philly.
GB: The offense is broken, and multiple people deserve blame.
That was an absolute and unmitigated disaster. Perhaps I cannot be unbiased because I am a Green Bay fan, but the Packers have been embarrassed in back-to-back weeks in two games they should have won easily. From the head coach to the quarterback to the offensive line, everybody failed last night.
Let's start with the o-line, which can't block for sh*t. It has been a problem the entire season. Though analytics will argue the Packers are good at pass blocking, I actually have eyes and can confirm that it is one of the unit's biggest weaknesses, which is incredibly worrisome considering how bad Green Bay has been when it comes to running the ball this season. It seemed like there was an Eagles defender in Jordan Love's face every other time he dropped back to throw the ball, which isn't exactly a recipe for success against the defending Super Bowl champions. The only time JLove had success last night was when he got outside of the pocket and didn't have a defender barreling towards him.
Speaking of Jordan Love, last night might have been his worst game as a professional outside of his first start against the Chiefs in Kansas City four years ago. If he wasn't missing receivers, Love was watching his passes get batted down at the line of scrimmage or knocked away by defensive backs. We also have to mention that extremely stupid fumble he had right before halftime when Green Bay was driving and in field goal position. Jordan Love is in his fifth season in the NFL and in his third year as a starter. Everybody knows in that situation you can't afford to do two things: 1. take a sack, and 2. turn the ball over. He managed to do both of those things in one play. For as good as Love has been at times this year, that was arguably the worst play made by any quarterback during the 2025-26 regular season.
At the end of the day, though, I put most of the blame for the Packers' recent struggles on head coach Matt LaFleur. Green Bay has looked completely overmatched in its last two games, which is an indictment of the coaching staff. The playcalling has been so unimaginative that on a must-have-it 4th and 1 with less than two minutes to go in the game, the Eagles stuffed a rushing attempt that the whole defense knew was coming. They even guessed the exact play before it happened! The grace period for Matt LaFleur is long gone. He has spent the entire season coaching in fear, and as a result, the Packers have gone from first place in the NFC North to third place in just two weeks. If something doesn't change offensively, LaFleur will be out of a job by the end of the season.
PHI: The Jaelan Phillips trade is already paying off.
One day before the NFL Trade Deadline, the Philadelphia Eagles sent a third-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft to the Miami Dolphins for pass-rushing specialist Jaelan Phillips. At the moment, it's unclear if Phillips is part of the Eagles' long-term plans, since he's in the final year of his rookie contract and will likely be seeking an extension this coming offseason. Then again, it's pointless to speculate on the future when that isn't guaranteed. All we can do is look at the present, and - by that measure - the Jaelan Phillips trade has already been a huge success after just one game!
Phillips was all over the field last night. He finished the game with six total tackles, four solo tackles, a tackle for loss, and a crucial fumble recovery that killed a Packers drive that would've probably led to some points. There were multiple moments last night where Jaelan Phillips got in Jordan Love's face and forced bad throws. He brought a lot of energy to the defense. You could see him shouting and celebrating with teammates, which clearly shows that this guy has a lot to offer; his talents were just being wasted in South Beach, Florida. Last and most importantly, he had a huge fourth-down stop that helped kill the Packers' hopes. That was the same 4th and 1 play that I mentioned earlier that drastically hurt Green Bay's chances of winning the game.
There's a saying in Philadelphia: "Howie did it again!" This basically means that Eagles general manager Howie Roseman constantly finds new ways to improve Philly's roster, and the evidence speaks for itself. He has brought in guys like Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, DeVonta Smith, A.J. Brown, Landon Dickerson, Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Quinyon Mitchell, and now Jaelan Phillips. The addition of Phillips was well worth a third-round draft pick. He is already paying dividends and was a big reason why the Birds won last night.
