Longtime AFC East rivals will go head-to-head on Thursday Night Football when the 2-7 New York Jets go north to take on the 8-2 New England Patriots. Both teams are looking to extend their winning streaks. Gang Green will be hoping for its third straight victory, while the Pats are aiming for their eighth win in a row.

The New York Jets once looked like the worst team in football with a 0-7 record midway through October. However, Gang Green has since won its last two games by beating the Cincinnati Bengals and the Cleveland Browns.

“One thing that we're trying to do, we're trying to build something, and I’ve said this from the beginning,” Jets head coach Aaron Glenn told reporters during the team’s Week Ten postgame press conference. “There has to be a foundation that has to be set. And man, these guys understand that. We're trying to build that foundation and get to where we’re stable because I truly believe, once you build a foundation - if it's truly stable - then you can sustain winning, and that's what we're trying to accomplish.”

Interestingly, it wasn't the offense that helped the Jets get on the board this past Sunday, but rather the special teams unit. New York became the first team since 2017 to score a kickoff return touchdown and a punt return touchdown in the same game.

"I’ll tell you what, our special teams really gave us a spark today, and that's what we need,” Glenn said. “That's what I talk about: playing complementary football, when all three phases can go out there and play… Listen, our special teams did a hell of a job. So I give a lot of credit to coach (Chris) Banjo and coach (Kevin) O’Dea.”

The Jets' passing attack once again struggled in Week Ten after quarterback Justin Field finished the game with 54 passing yards, a touchdown, and an interception. In all likelihood, passing will probably be difficult tonight since wide receiver Garrett Wilson is expected to miss the next three to four weeks with a knee injury, according to sources that spoke to ESPN.

“We have other guys, too. Mason (Taylor), he's going to step up,” Aaron Glenn said on Tuesday. “We have some new players that have come in, and we’ll see exactly where they're at, as far as putting them as part of the offense, too. Listen, (Garrett’s) a good player, and when you're a good player, guys are gonna key on you. The thing is, the other guys gotta get ready to step up.”

If the Jets want to have any shot of winning, they're going to have to do their best to limit the effectiveness of New England quarterback Drake Maye. He ranks in the top ten in terms of completion percentage (third), passing yards (third), passing touchdowns (tied for third), and passer rating (fifth).

“[He’s] big, physical, athletic, [and] can make all the throws,” Glenn said of Maye. “And everything revolves around how he operates and what he does… So this is going to be a fight. It's gonna be a fight, but we welcome the fight. We welcome it.”

On the other side, the Patriots are coming off arguably their most impressive win of the season after they smoked the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the road, 28-23. Unfortunately, the Pats weren't allotted much time to celebrate the victory with another game four days later.

“I think we're always trying to figure out what other teams are looking at. Seeing what works and making sure that our players understand that there's going to be things that people are going to do when you see it on tape,” Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel said on November 10th. “You have to learn from the things that you're seeing and be ready to anticipate things… You want to do things that your players are comfortable with and understand, but then know, with that, comes some things that you're going to have to defend based on certain coverages.”

On what's expected to be a cold, windy, and rainy night, Drake Maye explained that the weather won't deter the Patriots from getting the job done against the Jets.

“I think [we have to] go back to the little things of details when it's raining or when gripping the football or being good in and out of your breaks for your receivers,” Maye said. “Just going back to the fundamentals and knowing will kind of be what you're battling against… not losing the littlest things if it's raining or snowing and in the cold.”

Though the Patriots have historically dominated this rivalry since the turn of the millennium, the Jets are 2-2 against the Pats over the last two seasons. Therefore, New England knows that tonight's game won't be easy.

“It's any given week in this league,” Maye said. “Just coming off a win, and they’ve got great players. We’ve got a tough task, and they're coming here wanting to beat in-division… They're going to have something to play for, and they still do. They're going to be a tough challenge.”

Prediction for New York Jets @ New England Patriots (-13)

I think Drake Maye is just being polite. The Patriots are going to blow the doors off the Jets because quarterback Justin Fields cannot throw the football against top-flight defenses. Gang Green has faced two top-ten ranked defenses this season, and Fields has thrown for just 99 total passing yards in those games. He'll struggle mightily against New England's eighth-ranked defense.

Prediction: Patriots 28 - 13 Jets
