The Browns are hiring former Ravens OC Todd Monken to be their head coach
January 28th, 10:46 a.m. EDT
The Cleveland Browns are reportedly hiring former Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken to be the team's next head coach. Monken, who spent the last three seasons in Baltimore, was not retained by the Ravens after the team named Jesse Minter the head coach last week.
Todd Monken does not have any previous head coaching experience at the NFL level. After serving as the head coach of the University of Southern Mississippi from 2013 to 2015, he joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as the team's offensive coordinator until 2018. In 2019, he spent the season as the OC of the Cleveland Browns before being hired as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the University of Georgia from 2020 to 2022. In February 2023, he was named the OC of the Baltimore Ravens and held that position until today before being hired as the head coach of the Browns.
With Monken's hiring, the New York Giants and new head coach John Harbaugh will be looking for an offensive coordinator. According to ESPN's Daniel Oyefusi, many people within the Giants' organization expected Monken to join Harbaugh's staff in New York.
