Mike McDaniel expected to join the Chargers

Former Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel is expected to join the Los Angeles Chargers as the team's offensive coordinator, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter and Jeff Darlington. McDaniel was interviewed for numerous head coaching vacancies as well as offensive coordinator openings for teams like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Philadelphia Eagles.

McDaniel has West Coast ties, having spent five years with the San Francisco 49ers. After being hired as the Niners' run game coordinator in 2017, he was eventually promoted to offensive coordinator in 2021, before being named the head coach of the Dolphins in February 2022.
