Newcastle vs Brentford predictions: Magpies can cut through the fog on the Tyne

Brentford have lost on their last four visits to St James’ Park.
Aston Villa, Arsenal and Liverpool are the only teams to win at Newcastle in the league.
Recommended bet: Newcastle to win and both teams to score
A 4-1 defeat at top-four rivals Liverpool was followed by a Carabao Cup exit at the hands of Manchester City, in a week to forget for Newcastle.
Eddie Howe’s men will be boosted by a return to St James’ Park and will see a clash with Brentford as a big chance to get back to winning ways.
The Bees have been beaten in eight of their 12 Premier League away games ahead of Saturday’s clash and have lost on their last four visits to Tyneside.
Team News
The hosts are hopeful Bruno Guimaraes will be fit to play a part, having trained since midweek.
Speaking at his Friday press conference, Howe said the Brazilian is feeling “pretty good” and “fingers crossed he will be fit”.
Anthony Gordon was removed before half-time at the Etihad on Wednesday and is expected to miss out.
Keith Andrews will be without forward Kevin Schade following his sending off in the 1-0 win at Aston Villa last weekend.
Dango Outarra is expected to keep his place in the starting XI having scored on his return at Villa Park.

Prediction
Newcastle’s European hopes will be built around their solid home form and with key players returning from injury, the Magpies will target a strong finish to the season.
Brentford have had an outstanding season in Andrews’ first campaign in charge and are currently just four points outside the top five.
Their away form will be the only real concern for the Bees, with just four wins on the road this season, two of those coming against teams in the relegation zone (Wolves and West Ham).
In comparison, Newcastle have lost only three of their 12 league games at St James’ Park and they will be determined to right the wrongs of the last week.
The return of skipper Guimaraes will provide the hosts a huge lift and with Anthony Elanga and Harvey Barnes both available, they can cover for the loss of Gordon.
